Title says it all really. Dd moaning her bed is uncomfy, may be true or may be down to her friend having new bedroom furniture... Need to change hers but not atm mainly as I don't want to give into her and also due to cost..

For the last 2 weeks we have nearly stepped on her when going to bed due to her sleeping outside her room...

Last night I put her back into bed only to wake Round 3 am to find her back again...

Besides keep putting her back to bed what do I do? I have shouted, asked and even made her walk back to bed but should I be worried..? Is this short lived as it's driving me mad sad

Erm, sorry for being obtuse but why can't she just sleep on the landing?!

My two (aged 5 and 3) are obsessed with sleeping on the floor at the moment. They hardly ever sleep in their bunkbeds. They sleep really well down there so I let them!

What am I supposed to be worried about?!

MollieO · 16/09/2010 20:26

Unless there is a risk that she will fall down the stairs I'd leave her there. It is a phase and she will grow out of it. Not really worth worrying about imo.

I used to love sleeping upside down in bed as a child, would often sleep on the sheepskin rug on the floor too.

It drove me mad when my parents put me back in my bed, I was fine where I was :)

Leave her on the landing (as long as she can't fall down the stairs, obviously) and stick a blanket on her, she'll be fine (it's gonna get cold soon so she may well creep back into bed if a bit chilly)

Thanks everyone...

I'm happy with the replies ! I guess I was worried that she was showing odd behaviour and that it needed to be stopped I guess maybe I was looking more into it.

She seems fine tbh, even beings her duvet and teddies etc so I guess I can leave her..

Maybe reverrse psycology may help !

Thanks everyone x

My children often sleep on landings. And in cupboards. And in surprisingly small cardboard boxes. I'm used to stepping over them in odd places. I wouldn't see it as odd, but then I quite like sleeping on the floor myself.

Aaahhh! I like this thread and its conclusion.
Should be an ad for British Gas or something!

Tis a phase. DS went through a stage of sleeping on the floor. Don't worry once it starts getting colder she'll move back to her bed!

Fennel · 16/09/2010 20:49

Can be a long phase. My 10yo still does it....

Riddo · 16/09/2010 20:59

So does my 10yo - he's on the floor tonight next to his perfectly comfy bed

Lol at those kids that love sleeping on the floor..! Me however, I'm very similar to the princess and the pea lol!!

Will see where dd ends up tonight but tbh I'm much more relaxed now I know it's ok iykwim..!

My DS went through a phase of sleeping under his bed. The first night he did it I went into total panic as he wasn't in his bed and I searched everywhere.

He stopped doing it after about 2 weeks as he used to bang his head when he woke up in the morning.
