When oh when does the 'NO' phase end. . .

I have a feeling that the answer is 'Never' but i'm living in hope :) DS is 2.5 and a lovely wee chap who likes his own way. Every question at the moment results in the answer 'no', even if it's something he really likes - ie a bubble bath, watching a DVD together etc. He just doesn't say 'no' but will usually sulk or be really annoyed which is totally confusing for me (and probably him) but once you start whatever activity he just said 'no' to then he's usually happy. He can say the word 'yes' but it seems like he's getting a bit confused. His speech is comming on well but we aren't up to full proper sentences yet. Any tips?

I'm not sure you really need any. This all sounds completely normal. If anything he's ahead because he's almost being sarcastic, which shows he's very bright.

Honestly, you really don't need to worry. I'm sure the sentences will soon start flowing. Then you'll be wanting him to stop talking. Wink

Oh blimey - DS is in a 'no' phase at the moment and it's driving me insane. He also says 'no' and then goes off in a huff briefly before coming back.

He's only 2 and 1 month though so I suspect we've got a while to go!

Thanks for your replies, I know it's not a major problem and it will pass. It's nice just to have someone say it's normal and to know others are going through it too :)

he's copying someone, he's heard the word somewhere!! maybe from you! there are other ways to say it. I just ignore it and find other things to do or say.

if my DS says "no" to something he likes, then i start asking him about more things he likes and he always answers "no" until i start saying things like "do u like chocolate? your dummy? is mummy nice? etc.. and he still answers "no" but he sees the funnny side of it and after a giggle and a kiss he is more enclined about doing the thing i asked him about first time.

if you asked my parents they would tell you they will let you know when their DD1 (41) and DD2 (39) finally get through it Grin
