One of my twins couldnt d's or t's when she was 4 and was refferred to a speech therapist. To be honest I don't think it really helped and she is now 6 and can say them easily so maybe its just time she needs.

If you are worried it wont do any harm to speak to your hv but most schools have speech therapists working closely with teachers so if there is a problem the teachers will probably pick it up.

Also just out of interest did she have a dummy and till what age?

I only ask coz Kira had a dummy constantly till she was 3 and at night till 3.5. One of the speech therapists theory's was that she was speaking using the back of her toungue instead of the front which could be a habit from having a dummy in.

t is an unusual one to be missing in isolation. Can she make the sound at all? Or does she just miss it out in certain settings? (That's very common)

'c' is quite common to be missing at this age: it's a difficult sound. I presume she can't say 'g' either?

Are all her other sounds fine?

I would ask HV for referral to SALT for a professional opinion.

Thats what kira was like (missing t out in certain settings but could say the actual letter t)

Let us know how you get on

ds2 (3 and a half) can't pronouce k or g and he's just been signed off speech therapy. SALT wasn't that bothered, she said it's often late to develop. She said to get him to open his mouth wide and then say "g" or something. He substitues with t's and d'd as well.

ds2 didn't have a dummy btw but his speech sounds were all over the place - he was dxed with a speech disorder which seemed to bizarrely correct itself overnight. Apart from k and g - but his older brother can't talk at all so I don't really worry about it (bad mother). No seriously - the SALT wasn't concerned.
