Hi there, I am mum to two children who have/had reflux and I run a website trying to help others with infant reflux. I want to improve the range of products I am selling and would like to know if anyone would like to suggest any product that they found really helped with their DC. Like I was thinking of selling infant car seat covers but as mine were more silent refluxers, i don't know how much a problem sick all the carseat is for some parents? Would spare carseat straps be useful? I know I could have done with some!

The car seat wasn't too much of a problem as they are sitting up.
How about the absorbent granules you sprinkle on sick and makes it easier to clean up. I've got some from the vet and I've seen a paramedic with some. No idea what it's called.
Absorbent disposable mats to put under high chairs/by the side of cots.

muslins - by the bucketload preferably! Thats about all we used

SJisontheway · 02/09/2010 21:44

Definitely muslins and big bibs. And cloth nappies for putting on your shoulder - muslins are just not absorbent enough for that Smile.

Do you mean terry towelling squares RainbowRainbow? I was looking at selling those for that reason! I do sell Coochi Burp Cloths which are extra thick but they cost 9.99 for a pack of 3 and I figured a pack of terry toweling squares might offer better value?!

This time around I bought a stack (a dozen I think) of soft flannels (washcloths). Best purchase ever, plus you can reuse them later as household flannels.

Slings. Only thing which made a difference, I'm afraid.

SuperAmoo · 03/09/2010 14:18

Thank you everyone - great suggestions! I used flannels as a back up with my first baby actually - I'd totally forgotten that and we still do use them as household flannnels now. Seems like so long ago!

Lots of muslins! And a thicker version as they don't absorb enough for the full on exorcist moments......

Also, please can you tell me your website? My 5.5 month has massive reflux and we're having a tough time at the moment x

Best thing we had was a wedge to go under our daughter's mattress, so that she slept at an angle. Stopped her choking and I was able to get some sleep!

Something I wish that I had bought earlier is a tummy time swing called a 'wingbo'. I bought it because DS had low muscle tone, but it did help his reflux at tummy time because he was propped at an angle without the use of a towel. It is really easy to clean too. (It is expensive though.)

Apnea moniors that clip to the nappy, I have the respisense, my DS has a lovely habbit of inhaling stomach acid and stopping breathing, also because he's on prescription milk which thickens in my tummy when he gets sick a while after feeding he throws up fairly large lumps and has choked on them a few times now. Ones on the nappy work even when they are in the carseat or sling. I don't think I'd sleep at all without it.

I also second the sling idea, I tried loads out and found the best for me and my DS was the moby style one, I know some swear by other brands :)

Ditto terry nappies for burp cloths, we always use them, brilliant for those exorsist moments.

I also like the pamperscare mats, I feed in the kitchen usually as its got wipe clean floors, but when I go to friends house or feed in a carpeted room I spread one out on the floor, saves ruining carpets and embarresment. My mum thought I was over reacting until she witnessed my DS liberally cover a poor pensioner sat near us in a cafe. (two tables away incidently!) and no we won't be having our next coffee break in that particular cafe again any time soon :(

Hi all, thank you for all the great suggestions. Sorry I appeared to abandon my own thread but I've had 3 whole days without the internet - HELL! Our computer was infected by a virus that hijacked all the programs - quite scary. Thankfully sorted now.

The website JoandMax is www.sootheyourbaby.com at the moment but my new website is going to be at www.refluxbabies.co.uk I do have a temporary one there at the moment - the real one should be up by the end of the month hopefully.

I'm so glad I posted this question - I wasn't sure if i should or not. I really want to have a website that has everything needed - I hated having to trawl the internet looking for products and info about reflux and spending all that money on things that didn't work! I want to have a site where everything is tried and tested and there's no extra 'padding' - just things that really help.

For all those whose DC's have reflux - I really hope it improves for you soon.
