Food in nose Mummy

Why has my DS started to poke his food up his nose? So far, we've had carrot, bread and this morning, a raisin.

I've told him not to do it (No - food in mouth, not in nose) and he's not keen on the feeling once it's there.

So, do I let nature take its course and hope he'll grow out of it or should I buy a pair of long tweesers and the sort of head-torch that miners wear??

Dd2 does this. I ave no idea why. I caught her doing it with skittles (the sweets) not long ago. I reminded her of the time her cousin had to to go hospital because she had a stone up her nose. Dd2 agreed that wouldn't be very nice and she would stop putting skittles in her nose.

Lo and behold two minutes later;
"Mummy, ow, ow, ow, skittle, stuck, my nose, ow, ow, ow"

Do you know about the magic kiss technique? It would be wise to learn it to avoid embarrassing trips to the A and E to get raisins removed Grin

Cover the clear nostril with your fingers place you mouth over theirs and blow. Whatever is wedged in the other nostril should come flying out.

Thank you. Will keep in mind for emergencies in future. So far, bread has proved hardest to disloge, due to tendency to disintegrate.

Shiny - you are a lifesaver! At dinner today guess what - another bit of carrot got shoved up there before I could reach over and stop him. Far to far up to reach, and was just about to load up for a trip to A&E, when I remembered your trick. AND IT WORKED!!!

So, thank you so much!!!

It's been tried and tested many times in the Shiny household. Grin

Glad to help. Personally I think Clinton's should start putting Magic Kiss manuals in every birthday card between the ages of 2 and 5.
