SHe is very Euro in her tastes! doesn't like butter or anything that makes her fingers sticky. I hate sandwiches so never give them to her (BIG MISTAKE) and would really like to persuade her to eat them.

She isn't really a tuna/ham/cheese fan. Haven't tried her on egg mayo but think she wouldn't like the sticky aspect of it...

Any tips? She doesn't like hommous either, sigh.

Get her to help you make one. It doesn't have to just be two slices of bread, you could use pitta, chappati, tortilla etc. My dd isn't keen on sandwiches either, she'll tolerate ham or cheese but that's it. Nothing exotic like a slice of tomato or a spoonful of pickle, if I offered her mayo on anything I'd get a look like this Hmm. FWIW, I would try her on egg mayo, she could surprise you.

stupid question: do you roll your wraps into long sausages or do you cut them up to make flat sandwiches?

Will make some egg mayo for lunch today and see how it goes.

DD (16mo) loves pancakes - i.e. thin crepe style ones, not the fat cake-like ones. I defrost one, cut it in half, spread jam on one half and grate some cheese onto the other half. Both halves get rolled up and cut into slices and the cheesy bit popped in the microwave for a short while to melt the cheese.

She loves it! Either unrolls the slice and eats the strip bit by bit or munches into it still rolled up, Either way it goes in! She'll generally eat half of a sandwich, but a whole pancake!

Titfer, anything round gets whatever the filling put onto half of it, then fold it over then over again. You end up with a triangle shape.

Ok was in a hurry so just got her to eat a tiny sandwich made from a wholewheat wrap and some peanut butter! boiled eggs ready to try tonight or tmw.

Love the idea of pancakes! Do you make yr own or buy the packet ones? I made her beautiful fluffy ones last weekend and she mainly used them as a vehicle for syrup, although she did eat one. Will have to try them!

I buy them. Blush Keep a packet in the freezer so when we run out of bread or it has grown fur there are some on standby. DD definitely prefers them to bread.

Have you tried a slice of bread cut the crusts off, roll really flat put honey, peanut butter, good quality fish, meat spread then roll up and cut into little portions they look like little swiss rolls when done. Quite a novelty, you could get her to help make it.

Galena · 01/09/2010 17:36

Mungo, I assume one of the fillings, not all together? [imagining really odd sandwich tastes in the mungo household!]

mungo8 · 01/09/2010 21:28

yep all in one sandwich Grin no just choose one. You can try all of them together if you like let me know how it goes [grins] I might of discovered something extra yummy Hmm

Was on the lunchbox thread and found a great recipe from Tana Ramsay - Danish Pastry Pizzas. Made these for my DD today and she ate almost a whole one! VERY pleased, bread, cheese and ham in one meal! Am going to put the rest in the freezer for emergencies/quick meals. Fairly easy recipe, I added a bit more olive oil to my dough, and drzzled the pastries with a little more, also sprinkled with basil before rolling up. I used basic mozzarella from Sainsbo's but would try something a bit nicer next time as it was a bit dull. Worth trying tho!
