Help! 6 year old ds2 is driving me mad with his lying. It is constant!
for example i ask him if he has washed his hands and he says yes, he hasn't.
i say you shouldn't have walked all that mud in, help me clean it up and he swears blind it must have been his brother!
He even came to me with his empty plate that i had given him fruit on and says look mum, ate it all..when in fact he's chucked it in the bin.
It's doin my head in!

I think it's a phase cos DD2 has just turned 7 and has been doing that!

Monstersmum · 31/08/2005 10:54

Mine does that and he's only 4!!!! The giveaway is the cheeky grin!

My eldest does it , she's five, she even blames people who aren't even there.
She also has a very guilty look!
Don't know any solutions thouhgh hope its just a phase

naughty step, every time. lying is one of the things i have zero tolerance for because if it ever comes to the point where i really need them to tell the truth, i want to be able to trust them. warn him you are going to clamp down first tho and explain why it is such a problem. mine rarely lie now because they usually get caught out and are then in far more trouble for lying than for whatever it is they are lying about

My 5 year old DD is the same, she blames everything on her 3 year old brother!!!!

She is also into "tale telling" big time!!! It drives me up the wall!!!!

We have hit upon the best solution to lying.
DS is 5. I told him a few months ago that I know when he is lying as his cheeks go red.
So now if I say to him, "Did you hit your sister?" or something like that he will say, "NO!" Followed immediately by "Have my cheeks gone red?"
Classic

I like that ghosty, will deffo try it!!!!

She told a porky this morning. She stuck a sticker on her paper and then told me she'd drawn it. It was so obvious to her and to me but she insisted she had drawn it. I said "why are you lying darling" and she said adamantly "I'm not Mummy I drew it".

Kids!!!!

My dd1 (2.3) keeps blaming things she has done on her four-month old sister.
