Hello has anyone done that? my friend kept her son's hair at a 'number 1', which means extremely short, hair for the duration of primary school.

But has anyone cut their girl's hair short to prevent nits? I once met someone in Devon who had done so but I don't know how to get in touch with that person. All the girls in DD's class have long hair. DD does not want her hair cut short.

we have gone through 2 treatments already and doing a third tonight. on the 6th of September i have an operation. I will not be able to be nit combing for several weeks after the op at least, and DH won't do it (he cut his own hair to "number 1" rather than deal with the treatment.)

thanks

I got a new "nitty gritty" comb online. I have really thick course hair myself and the comb gets everything out of mg hair (problem is i can't tell eggs from dandruff and haven't seen anything moving in well over a week now, maybe two), but DD has really fine hair, i have to pick them out my hand, the comb doesn't get them. If there are nits now they are very small, i can't see any obvious things with legs. You have to get them before they lay more eggs.

thanks

My mum was all about what was trendy, not was cute so she used to make me wear jeans to parties when I was about 6 years old. I HATED it. All the other girls got to wear their cute pink, flowery dresses, and I was running around dressed like a tomboy. And they all had beautiful long, curly hair and my mum used to cut mine into a very short, harsh bob, or even worse, a mullet. I don't think I would have minded having short hair, but combined with the jeans, bah, I felt like my life was ending every single time.

I'll be careful with DD. Mum always said she hoped it would be character building, but I think it just made me struggle to make friends as the tomboy girl in a school full of a girly girls. My cousin recently cut her daughter's hair to "bob" length, and they both love it, so it's not like I'm ruling short hair out of the question. But I definitely won't do anything that makes DD feel like an outcast, so I'm definitely NEVER going to shave her head.

You need a nitty gritty comb and some conditioner. You need to absolute cake your child's head and comb each hair from the root individually. It is hard work. It takes me a good twenty minutes to do my son's hair and he has his hair quite short. I imagine that it would take you a lot longer with a girl.

The key is to remove all the eggs. It is not enough to remove the lice.

You need to fine tooth comb every day until the critters are gone and then every three days to keep them at bay.

Please don't cut your dd hair short. My mother did this to me and I got bullied horribly.

I wouldn't cut her hair.I speak from experience here,
My mum cut my hair short ( like a boy ) when I was about 6. I still haven't forgiven her for it and it is brought up every argument.
