21mth old - houdini from pushchair?

Hi, I've got a 21 month old daughter, who has a knack of getting out of the pushchair when she's fully strapped in.

I've got two push chairs, each with a 5 point harness and she can do it in both, she just pushes her arms out of the straps and brings her feet onto the chair and stands up. I usually have to then pick her up before she falls/ climbs out. She's ok being put into the pushchair, and she will sit in there ok until something catches her eye/ or she gets bored (e.g. on stop in a queue).

Any other mums with the same problem? Did you find a solution.

Has any of your pushchairs got a bumper bar? I have the Quinny Buzz and my son may try to get out but the bar simply gets in the way so he cant push himself out.

Yes, they both have bumper bars, but they don't stop her from standing up, I think they are too far away.

She just stands up onto the seat, so I have to pick her up out of the pushchair or she will fall. So she doesn't actually climb out if you see what I mean.

I have a friend with child who does this, she is like a little houdini! My friend has somehow attached a reins harness to the buggy so straps her in with the reins AND the buggy harness. It works too, she can't get out at all and she was really bad before, they couldn't walk anywhere without her slithering out.

my dd does this. Most reins come with short loops that you can attach to pushchairs. I use them on my buggy and highchair.

Thank you, I will try the reins!

At least I now know my daughter is not the only one who does this! A friend of mine saw her and said "You should be strapping her in you know". Don't think she believed me when I said she was.
