I started having problems with ds1 and aggression from about 18 months. He was so bad that I could barely look away without him whacking someone. Finally at about 3 he seemed to calm right down, to the point that I could actually relax at playgroups/playgrounds etc. But recently he seems to have reverted back a bit, and I feel really depressed about it. He's not as bad as he used to be, but he will hit out at other children, even much younger, someone times for no obvious reason. I have started warning him after the first incident that if it happens again, we will leave. That does help to a degree, but I still feel like I have to watch him like a hawk. He's also developed the attitude of a teenager and can be really rude. Is this normal or am I doing something really wrong? He can also be loving, kind and funny, so he's not all bad!Just can't wait for school to start!

Sounds like my four year old. Can be the most loving caring child and all of a sudden if things aren'y slightly going his way he will get really narked. Says things like 'I don't love you mummy' and 'Go away from me' 'I hate you' Shock Then he will calm down and be fine again.

He also seems to have the attitude of a 'Kevin the Teenager'

He's not aggressive to other kids (apart from his sister) but mostly to those closest mum, dad, nanny...

I'm hoping it's just another delightful phase that will soon pass and we will soon forget.

I sympathise!

Also sounds like my 4 year old DS who seems to save the best of the aggression for me :(

Hoping it will pass and that tomorrow will be a much better day than today.
