DS (4 years) not drinking enough?

DS is a fab eater ... Always has been

However, i am slightly concerned about his lack of fluids

He has barely drunk anything today ... A cup of water, a slurp of juice with lunch and then nothing

He refused a cup of water at breakfast time

I offer him milk and water with each meal and he has a sports beaker he can help himself to whenever he wants

He often says he is hungry but i think he is confusing it with thirst

Have tried jazzy cups and straws ,,, not sure what else to do

TIA for any tips or advice

DS1 used to be like that when he was 2-4. He's now 6 and can be persuaded to drink. The helping-himself-to-water part didn't seem to work. I made sure he has a drink every meal, and at snack time. But it wasn't easy ...

Oh thank you .... Maybe nagging perseverance is key

Bribery? If he drinks a cup of water/juice/whatever then he can have some chocolate/biscuit/sweet?

DS (3) is like this. He lives on fruit and veg, has milk on cereal in the mornings and will often have a drink of water before going to sleep.

I figure if he was thirsty he'd drink.

If I'm bothered by it I give him a tiny splash of apple or orange juice well diluted with water. He thinks this is a big treat Grin

Write the numbers 1-6 on piece of paper stuck on the fridge, everytime he drinks a cup of water/juice/milk he sticks a sticker over the number. 6 (small) stickers equals a reward.

Thanks for the advice and tips

I like the sticker idea very much
