So how do I stop my 3 year old from being agressive?

smack her bottom

no, honestly, i think you have to be consistant with time outs and how you deal with it. i hated the horrid threes. (oh nom dd2 is 3 this week!!)

Is it possible to just walk away? ( i know some children you can't as they just follow you).

But if possible, walking away and ignoring is best because even a naughty step gives them sought after attention. I know because my dd asks with glee if she can sit on it when she things shes done something wrong .

I have found that if i tell her "i don't like ...whatever she just did" and then disappear for a couple of minutes, she cries it out and then comes to me once she's calm. We talk about why she shouldn't have, she says sorry, and then we get on with whatever we were doing.

Can you catch the moment before it happens?

Or do reward charts work?

I saw a good idea on supernanny, a big flower drawn with no petals. Each day that dd doesn't get aggresive she can stick a petal on her flower. Each time she is aggressive a petal gets removed. Once the flower has enough petals she gets a reward....
I thought it was quite a nice idea. But i know my dd is a little too young and would forget from day to day what the whole point of the chart was about!

Agree with Hattie - reward charts are good - i have found that overemphasising the fantasticness of cuddles and affectionate stuff helps if using the timeout methods too. It does take time though (and you need to make sure that if anyone else looks after your LO that they use the same method, whatever it be, as you).
