so my beautiful dd has discovered her little hands in the last few days & since has been putting her whole fist in her mouth. She sucks on them so hard her hand goes red. I thought it could be a sign she may be hungry but she wont take a bottle. She has been dribling a lot too and i read somewhere it could be a sign she is teething? Could this be the case or could she be thirsty? Should i start giving her a bottle of water, im scarred then she might stop drinking milk.
im totally confused...... Confused

SHe doesn't need water on top of her bottle - if she was thirsty she'd take it. Could be teething, or could just be that she likes sucking her hands!

stupid thing to ask but if she is teething is there anything i need to do or do i need to take her to the Dr?????

My 13 week DD is exactly the same! Won't take a dummy but sucking her hands like there's no tomorrow. No idea if it's teething or she just likes her hands!

Don't think you need to do anything if she is teething, maybe use some gel on her gums if they look sore.

She is not hungry/thirsty. Sucking hands is a normal part of development and all babies do this (normally starting at about 12 weeks). My advice is just to let her suck them and continue milk as normal.

She is mostly likely just discovering her hands and has realised she can control them and get them into her mouth.
My 12 week old is the same.

Its possible she could be teething, If she seems happy enough then they dont appear to be bothering her so dont need to do anything.

My dd2 aged 15 weeks started doing exactly this about a week ago, then yesterday evening she got quite hot and sweaty, in the night she was very unsettled and cried a lot, and then this morning I found the beginnings of a little tooth on one of her top gums. I put some teething gel on and bought her a teething ring. The latter probably not worth it because she is too little to hold it in her mouth.

I've noticed today she has been very thirsty and so has been drinking a fair amount of milk, i think she is going through a growth spurt. She still sucked her hands quite a bit today but I also noticed her play with her hands a lot too. I'm going to let her continue and maybe get the gel just incase it is needed at a later stage Hmm

hopingitgetsbetter- i hope your dd2 is a bit more settled now after the teething gel. How cute must she look with her little tooth???? In a way i cant wait to see my dd have her first tooth, selfish on my part i know as it's painful for them.
