She is 26mo and quite advanced speech wise.

She has picked up for f$%ks sake and oh my God (She seems to pick up on a word when its said once or twice and thats it!)

So, she will sit there and will call my name until she has my attention and then say either of the above. I ignore her and she will keep saying it. I have tried telling her that they are naughty words and giving her alternatives but it doesnt work either. She will also use both in the right context at other times (honestly we have said it like once or twice)

Any ideas? Should I just keep ignoring her? Should I distract her when she does it?

If she continues after you ignore her and have told her it is naughty ....... can you send her out of the room?
I have also found that using a NEW nonsense word instead of Oh my G... is quickly picked up! My grandchild said "Oh!Gorgonzolla" which I used when he was little.

When mine did this around same age as yours, I did two things: stopped saying those words myself and completely ignored them when they used them.
They dont say it anymore. I would say ignoring is the best policy, but be prepared for it to take a week or two for it to fizzle out.
I wouldnt use 'time out' for this, personally I think that is best used for serious offences such as hitting etc
She has picked up the word from you (like mine did!), so just distract/ignore and dont give it any attention atall, even in your facial expressions. Shes just trying to get attention so dont give it to her and she'll soon get bored!

My ds has picked up 'Oh my god' from that song...I only realised this about a week ago as he'd started saying it, and then was singing along to the song!! So even if you dont say things yourself they can still pick them up. I've got him to stop by saying 'Oh my golly gosh' in funny voices and laughing...so now he thinks this is highly amusing and says that instead.

We did have an incident a few months ago where dp said 's**t' and ds started repeating it there and then...I just smiled and said 'yes, sit daddy, sit down' and ds carried on copying but saying sit instead. Lucky escape I think!
