Is this normal in a 12 week old?

Ok, so I think DD2 is having her 3 month growth spurt. Now, in your experience, do babies who are going through this change display other kinds of behaviour (other than increased appetite). Like sleeping more and being more irritable, disengaging, being a bit grumpy? It seems to make sense that they do, given the massive changes they are undergoing during a spurt, but I'm not sure if I should simply be putting this behaviour down to a spurt or whether little one might be sickening for something?

I think it is normal, tbh. All my three got a bit grumpier. I think their awareness is improving and there is a level o frustration that their body isnt quite up to their mind if that makes sense? My DD is doing the same thing.

Also, have you considered teething?

My 13 week old has gone from content to grumpy, has coincided with 2nd lot of jabs too though.

Wont breastfeed either so have given 2 bottles today, know "shouldn't have" but had such bad day with toddler that I dont really care Sad

Thanks invisible - think it could be teething. She is verrrrry dribbly. But then she won't get any teeth for a year, same as dd1!!

Pamelat. Grumpy baby plus toddler.nasty. know the feeling x

My DD is 12 weeks too, and a bit grumpy as well, I think they have so much going on developmentally it's bound to make them a bit tetchier (and jabs don't help either!!)

CrazyOVERbaby · 20/08/2010 13:19

Dreading the jabs. She's just started going through the night (please god let it continue) and I just know that the jabs will stuff it all up. ahhhhhhhhhh

I think so. My older DS went odd for virtually every milestone too, in the end it became a signal for me that something was brewing! Also, at 12 weeks I expect your baby is becoming a lot more alert now so its all change in many ways for her. Its not surprising they get a bit agitated really I guess.

My 10 week old is suddenly grumpy too. I think
she is bored and frustrated that she can't quite do more than she is capable of right now. She strains herself forward to almost sitting up in an effort to move, but can't do any more.

It's very hard to entertain them when they are this small and can't even grasp toys etc...

Guess we have to just wait it out!

Oh I think you;re right, it must be frustrating for them. Do babies this small get separation anxiety? I left DD2 with my mum for an hour yesterday whilst I took DD1 out for a bit of mummy time, and she screamed the whole time. Then in the night she was up 3 times, not to feed, but seemingly just to check I was there. Didn;t help that she managed to escape her swaddle. I just wondered if the two things might have been linked? Anyone have any insights???

Well this week has been the first time she has started to scream when I am out of sight, so could be, Crazy.

Oh, glad I'm not alone. My baby is like velcro at the moment!!
