I think my LO is teething he has a rashed mushy bit where I think the teeth are comming through he's dribberling and today he had a screaming session so I gave him some capol and he feel asleep. I was just wondering is this teething and does anyone have any tips on easing the discomfort? Thanks.

My DS has his 2 bottom middle teeth at 19 weeks. He dribbles a lot, but always has done. I knew it was teething when he was struggling to feed, coming on and off the breast and also when sticking my finger in his mouth to have a feel he would chomp down on it furiously. I think it took 2 weeks in total to break the skin and during that time I used baby bonjela mostly, calpol occasionally (before bed) and he loved chomping on a teething ring I kept in the fridge. I think the most comforting thing for him was these tommee tippee teething dummies, he could easily hold on to it a chew away and it has a channel for teething gel.

On the packet it says consult a dr or pharmacist when used with other medication. My gp said it was fine, but I didn't use calpol very often. My DS did not have a raised temp drink teething.

My dd was teething about this age. We used a clean facecloth, wet it and put it in the fridge in a clean sandwhich bag. She loved to suck on it when her teeth were bothering her. Also, if you are bottle feeding, my dd also liked her milk chilled when her gums were bothering her. You can use teething gel and calpol together - I found calpol first, then teething gel (teething gel works quickly, so by the time it wears off, the calpol should have kicked in).

Also, we've had a lot of soothing with ashton and parsons powders (although it does look very dodgy when you bring out a wrap of white powder to put on your baby's tongue)!
