When do they start walking properly

DS has just started taking a few steps here and there. So he'll cruise, walk unaided a few steps, fall over or cruise some more.

I just wondered how long it takes to get from this stage to proper walking?

Both DS and DD didn't walk until 15 months and once they started they were off really. But DS had been cruising around for about 6 months before that.

Ds cruised at 9m, walked across the room at 10m and was pretty steady going by about 11m I think.

DD didn't take her first steps til 15 months, then seemd 'stuck' for ages and continued to bottom shuffle, never walking more than 10 steps a week, until 17 months when she took off.

Now she's 18.5 months, she's a brilliantly confident walker, she comes for long country walks with us, keeps up a good pace, and cries if we try to put her in her buggy Smile!

Thanks all! He's been cruising for about a month, took first steps two weeks ago and he's getting a bit more confident every day. Funnily enough he doesn't do it much when it's just me and him but loves to do it for visitors and DH!

We're going on holiday to the lake district next weekend and I know it's a bit too much to expect him to take a few steps outside (obviously we'll be taking him in the buggy for walks, I'm just getting a bit overexcited Grin)
