Having problems with 11 month old

My DD is 11 months old and a little terror!

She whinges/screams no stop in the car, screams if i take something away from her that she's not suppost to have, cries if i move her away from the doors in the house.

Today i carried her around b&Q, she became fed up and started to scream, pinched and pulled my hair to get down.

All this behaviour seems to be getting worse in the last month or so, i take her to jo jingles and she screams with temper if i try to get her to sit on my knee to sing to the songs or hold her back from crawling away. While all the other babies her age are as good as gold watching whats going on. I really dread taking her and i've decided not to go again.

I thought this kind of behaviour started at 18-24 months old. I really dont know what to do with a baby at this age, she doesnt understand 'no' yet, although i try

Any advice

I have a lively baby daughter of 11 months too. Loves to be on the move all the time and quickly gets bored and cross if prevented from zooming about. Why not try parks and playgrounds or those tumbletots type classes instead of sitting still stuff, for the moment?

My DS was no good at rhyme time type things once he could crawl and when he started walking, I gave up altogether as he just kept running off and trying to get in the toilet/cleaning cupboard/exit etc. I started taking him to playgroups instead where there is more space, so agree with autodidact. When I am at home with him we have to go somewhere in the morning and in the afternoon - he can't stand to be cooped up in the house!

He was also a bit of a hitter/pincher/hair-puller and I would just say 'No, we don't hit' firmly and move him away from the other child (or move myself away!) He's nearly 2 now and is a lot better but does revert to pinching etc. if he's tired, ill, hungry etc. (Now, when I tell him 'No hitting' he puts on this angelic little face and chants 'No hitting, no pinching, no pull hair, no kicking, good boy.' Hmm)

lol artifarti! Sounds like his absorbing your moral code very nicely.:)

Hi,

Thanks for your messages,

autodidact just looked at tumbletots which seems to be perfect for DD! Just what she wants, i never thought maybe she just didnt like jo jingles and put it down to her being a terror. Your right, its just not her thing.

And artifarti my DD is like your DS, i can't have her in the house all day, we always need to go out and do something because her behaviour becomes worse.

Thank you, i feel so much better now after my rant :-)

:) The others will catch up with her soon and chaos will reign, you will not feel like the odd ones out and jo jingles will lose a lot of business!

And the bonus is she will keep you very fit! I clock up miles having to take him to endless parks and playgroups...and today I had to leg it at break-neck speed across the park to stop him dismantling some cricket stumps he'd spotted! (He's a bit like a dog - as long as he gets regular food, sleep, cuddles and huge amounts of exercise, he is gorgeous and a lot of fun! Grin)

Ah, so glad to read this! I'm not the only mum of a very feisty 11 mo DD then! I've had to abandon swimming group, rhyme time, treasure baskets group and even playing with other babies (except a select few with very understanding mums!). All the others seem so calm and placid! Mine is so independent, active and single minded. But she's loads of fun and can play at home for hours on her own if left to her own devices (and supervised, of course).
At least we're getting to practise early for the next phase!
