Mummy's boy and Daddy's girl

My DS is 3 and my DD is 5. My DS is very affectionate, every morning he comes and gets into bed with me (at my side not in the middle of me and dp) and then hugs me and kisses me until I wake up. When I am on the computer like now, he insists on sitting on my knee which is very hard when you are trying to type!!!

My DD has never really been one for cuddles, only when she is tired or ill. When she was DS's age she always used to sit with dp and cuddle him before she went to bed.

In our case its definitely Mummy's boy and Daddy's girl, is everyone's kids like this?

Ds is daddy and grannys boy

crazydazy · 25/08/2005 14:09

Oh..is he? How old is he?

My DP gets really fed up that DS prefers me to him but I keep saying as DS gets older he will probably prefer Dad to Mum as boys generally do don't they? He spends more time with him now than he did say a year ago.

DP never goes into him when he shouts through the night as he cries out for me and if DP goes he screams and then wakes his sister (as they have to share a room).

DD up until a couple of months back was always a real daddy's girl but she's mummy's girl now

She's even started to call me mummy now which is great.

dd is a mummy's girl much to dp's disgust!

CalicoPie · 25/08/2005 14:12

Oh, absolutely.

DS (15mths) is so cuddly with me, whereas DD (3) never was and still isn't.

DS can be a bit clingy at times, but DD has always been pretty independent. DD is definitely a daddy's girl too.

I wonder why they seem to follow these stereotypes?

My DD is very independent and very much like her Daddy as he is not openly affectionate (unless he wants a bit ) but DD is like me, loves cuddles and kisses.

I think children must gravitate towards the parents they can most relate to, well I find that in my case as if I try to give DD lots of kisses she physically pulls away and gets embarrased and was even like this as a small child!!!

My 2 are the other way round
Ds 4 is a daddys boy and dd 2 is a mummy's girl.

Both DS and DD are clingy to me, although DS has gone more to Daddy since DD arrived.
