3 year old dd biting herself and growling?

My dd has a temper and has bit herself a few times, if she doesn't get her own way wil growl

When she was 1ish she used to pull her hair out in a temper.

Just wondering if other children do this? And if you think this is normal?

I used to do things like this as a child, so see it as her having a temper. But dp thinks it is very odd.

I still have a temper now and can overreact alot so maybe it is a problem?

DD1 is 3 & growls when she's very frustrated so not it's unusual.

I notice that her reactions to things that make her cross/ frustrated/ angry are modelled on ours so I've started saying "oh sugar!" a lot more than I used to and really try to make sure that I control my reactions ... I get cross & fed up & then overreact so I'm making a concious effort to stop this & her rages are lessening now.

She should grow out of this as she gets older & can express herself & her emotions more clearly

My DS nearly 4 has just started doing this too
When he gets really angry usually when on naughty step etc he bites himself

The first couple of times I reacted and toldhim not to do it but didn't seem to make any difference

I have now started to ignore it as I wondered if he was looking for a reaction and have tried to get him just to express his anger in a different way by saying mummy I am very cross but at their age I think it is very difficult

My DS does have quite a temper and feel it is an outlet for him and am also hoping just a phase if it carries on think will speak to HV for advise

it's just the way you deal with anger, sounds twee but going out for long walks can be good for getting rid of angry feelings

my 3 year old DD does the growling thing too, she has terrible tantrums too when she can't get her own way, sometimes it stresses me out so much but lately I have just been ignoring her completely when she gets like this, seems to work eventually although she is as stubborn as a mule so it takes a while for her to calm down.
