My 4 year old today while in the bath with my 6 year old told me his brother was touching his peanuts. (This is a word my 6 year old has started calling his willy and so now he too says this)
With regards to this i told him he was not in trouble, but he should never touch anyone's willy, nor should anyone touch his, And it is wrong to do this and he should tell someone straight way if this happens. He then told me he didn't know why he did it, he just wanted to, He then told me a boy in his class has tried to touch his before at playtime. What should i do/say? Would i be over reacting in speeking to the school when they go back? I know they are only kids and are learning, Is there something i have missed in telling him about? What should a 6 year old know, I am now so confused. Did i do the right thing?

I think it's natural curiosity at their ages and definitely wouldn't worry too much over it.

Hi!

I think you have played it just right. It's only natural for alarm bells to start ringing as soon as your child talks about anything like that. I would be suprised if it was anything other that pure curiosity. They're just getting to learn about there bodies but i'd be shocked if it were in any other way.

Having said that, if i were you I would still be listening intently for the next few weeks at what he is saying.

I'd go with the listening very carefully along with a couple more conversations about what is appropriate. If you don't hear anything else concerning put it down to natural curiosity and let it go.
