summer babies starting school - need advice

I am sure this problem has been addressed heaps of time on here already but I am really worried about my children starting school, they are both August babies, my daughter is 31 Aug. I just feel that they are too young to be starting school just after they turn four. I feel really strongly about this and am going to try anything I can to avoid them starting school straight after their 4th birthdays. I understand that I can hold them back until the term after they turn five but they would then miss out on reception year and start straight into year one, which is obviously pointless. How can I find out about different schools or schooling methods where there would be more flexibility on when they start.

When you pop in or phone your local schools they will be able to tell you if they have a single, double or triple intake for the reception class.
Single intake will mean they all start in September regardless of who is 4. Dual will mean September and January intakes, and Triple will mean September, January and April (less common).

I have the same issue Spring. I didn't want to hold them back from starting as then they will be the new kid once everyone else has settled in.
I looked into it a lot and wrote to my MP and council about it to no avail. It is galling as in Scotland they have a grace period for school cut off dates, if you fall within it it you have a choice to send them or not. No-one has pointed me in any direction for alternatives, although there is always the group homeschooling option which you can probably find local connections too online.
In the end I spoke to the school as my other children already go there. They were very sympathetic and also very flexible. I don't have any children left at home from Sept so I will be going in to the school to help (schools are usually keen to have parents help with reading, cooking etc), and my youngest will only be going a few mornings a week.
I felt this way there would be no missing out on the settling in period, I will be around, and most importantly she won't get too tired.
I'm sure you are aware they don't legally have to start school until they are 5, so the school really have to comply with you on this I believe.

DD turned four in June. She will be starting reception in September. At her school there is an option for children born between March - August as to when they start full time. ie - All children will do half days only for the first two weeks and then it is up to parents (of children born March-August) to decide when their child will start full time.
It may be worth speaking to the school to see if your daughter could do part time only for a while?
