Nature names

Thank you so much to those people who have posted suggestions on nature names for boys and girls. Don't know what I would do without this forum as I am really struggling here.

We have three children and are due to have our fourth and last. The problem we have got ourselves into is that all of their names end in an 'n' sound and are all related to nature.

So would it be best to have another name which ends in 'n' or does it not really matter? And if so, I am needing help to think up boys' and girls' names of nature ending in 'n'. Seem to have set myself a bit of a jigsaw puzzle : /

Have looked carefully at the suggestions and I really like Rowan and Landon but dh doesn't like them.

Help appreciated.

I doubt it matters, but it is hard to say without knowing what the others are.

In case it does matter, with 'n's at the end I like Linden and Wren. Oh, and Marin (which is not such a nature name, but is sort of linked).

What are some of the names your DH likes? Did he like any of the nature suggestions that don't end in n?

I think it would flow better if the last DC had a different ending - so .....n, .....n, ....n and ....y, for example. It somehow completes the set and doesn't sound so contrived.

I did have an idea for your first name post, but then people started getting sarky about your Beauden suggestion so I didn't post in the end.

I can't remember the exact names (one was Autumn?) but they made me think about the 4 elements, Earth, Air, Fire and Water. I think the 3 names loosely fit with 3 of the elements, so I was going to suggest you might like a name that was related to the fourth element.

Can you remind us of the names of your 3 children, so we can come up with some more suggestions?

Ok. I am a little hesitant after getting such negative feedback last time. But I would appreciate some help. The two girls are called Autumn and Ocean. Think I might leave out my ds for now - wary now : ((( But his name has the same ending sound.

That's right - Ocean was water, obviously. Autumn could be either air, as it's a season, or fire because of the fire colours, and I think your boy has an earth type name.

I have a friend with a Summer, Forest and River (as middle names - her DP wasn't brave enough to use them as first names).

I think if I were you I'd look in non-conventional places for name ideas. So maps, geography textbooks, gardening magazines etc. I bet there's the name of a beautiful valley in some far away land which would be perfect for your child.

Seren ('star' in Welsh)
Aven (a small mountain flower)
That would be for girls, though maybe Aven could be a boy's name too.

Samson means 'sun' in Hebrew
Aidan is 'little fire' in Irish
Dylan is 'great tide' in Welsh
Valerian -- a plant
Thorn
Robin
Avon 'river' in welsh
Bryn 'hill' Welsh
Colwyn, a river in Wales
Corbin 'crow' old form of the word (I think it's in a Maddy Prior song)

But you don't sound the 'n' ending for Autumn.

We have also got ourselves in a dilemma cofused both ds and dd have 4 letter names beginning with E.
IF we had a 3rd would we have to follow that pattern (didn't occur to me at the time - just went for names we both agreed on!)

Bryn was on our shortlist as is Finn (but according to anther thread that is v v popular now)
