Don't like either, the first reminds me of Johnny Lydon Rotten, the other is a Tweenie. Why not just have Freddie as his first name. Hugo sounds a bit too posh and smirky to me. I knew a Hugo who was posh and smirky.

coffeefestival · 03/07/2010 17:36

I like Milo best from your choices

I like Freddie too, although I like it best as a nickname for Frederick.

Milo Frederick or Frederick Milo would be great

Not so keen on Lyndon as I don't like surname type names. How about Dylan, William or Leon?

rosieposey · 03/07/2010 17:51

Milo is a fab name, it suits my DS lots

migola · 03/07/2010 21:12

I know 2 grown up Lyndons, both lovely men
Milo v. popular
I like Leon as coffeefestival suggested

Jamieandhismagictorch · 03/07/2010 21:17

Milo

Hedwig3 · 04/07/2010 07:45

Hugo

ivykaty44 · 04/07/2010 07:47

I knew a lyndon who was a lovely man,

Milo is a hot chocolate tyoe drink and thats whatI think of

seenyertoeslately · 04/07/2010 07:48

Like Hugo or Milo. Lyndon may get shortened to Lyn, which he may not like.

rainbowfizz · 04/07/2010 07:54

Love the name Lyndon.
Milo tweenies.

This thread seems very split.
May be not helping your decision making

diddl · 04/07/2010 09:51

Milo.

domesticsluttery · 04/07/2010 09:57

I have always liked the name Milo, but when my 3 were born the Tweenies were very poular and so I though people would have made the connection.

The Tweenies aren't as omnipresent popular now though, are they?

DS1 has a friend called Florrie and she has never been likened to a Fimble, so maybe I was over-thinking it anyway.

mopsyflopsy · 04/07/2010 10:49

I can only think of this when I hear Milo:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milo_(drink)

diddl · 04/07/2010 12:16

I guess it depends where you live.

Being in the UK, not heard of Milo as a drink & it wouldn´t put me off.

Quite like Hugo, although not as much as Milo.

Also like Arlo & Jethro.

diddl · 04/07/2010 12:18

this comes to mind for me.

mathanxiety · 04/07/2010 18:45

I like Lyndon, and Hugo too.

Suggest Leo?

How about just telling DH when the baby is born that his name is {your favourite} ?

What may be going on here is that your DH is falling back on contrariness just because he's nervous or still trying to wrap his mind around what's going to happen, but he'll be perfectly happy to call the baby anything you say when he's born

memphis83 · 04/07/2010 19:56

I agree mathanxiety i think its finally sinking in that we are days away and he's getting nervous!
diddl my mum used to give me milo to dring when i was little but it doesnt bother me either, but i love your suggestion of Arlo!!

Why thank you!

telsa · 05/07/2010 09:37

What about Lytton - which is an old English name. I think I prefer Milo to Lyndon, which is a bit like Lynda. But what about Timo - if you like 'o' names.

MarthaQuest · 07/07/2010 10:22

I have an 8 year old Lyndon. he loves his name , which means lime tree from the old english. round our way in Dorset, lime trees are called Linden trees.

He has never been called Lyn either.

President Lyndon B Johnson ain't too bad a namesake either if you concentrate on the civil rights legislation and liberal domestic policies of his Great Society and overlook Vietnam

LimaCharlie · 07/07/2010 14:11

Having an older child Milo will always be associated with Tweenies for me

memphis83 · 08/07/2010 10:46

marthaquest thanks for post thats what i love about name that its old english, but good to hear your son loves it and that he isnt called lyn, my dh is obsessed that people will shorten names i cant see it myself so youve made my arguement stronger!

my Dad said the same thing - 'he'll be bullied at school' but to date it's never been an issue.

I think, in this age of Kyles, Jaydens and Taylors, kids are much more accepting of names.
