i'm only 15+3 but we have been ttc for 2 years (4 mc before this one)so the subject has come up quite alot, but we just have polar opposite taste in names.

all the names dp like sound made up. the only normal names he likes are, imo, not going to suit us, i.e very italian etc.

i tend to like more traditional names, although i would like a name that no one else i know has used.

the last few discussions we have had have become quite heated. i just can't see a compromise being reached.

with my 2 dc their dad was quite happy to let me have the final say.

help us please!!

how do you pronounce caeo? sounds like something dp would like and i'm not horrified by it

loads of welsh girls names i love.

i like Evan and dylan for welsh boys names but 2 dylans in close family with same surname.

if he won't marry you I really wouldn't give him a say in the name unless you like what he's suggesting.

and definitely, definitely don't give the child his surname.

Caeo rhymes with Sony Vaio - k-eye-o.

How about Seren for a girl? Means star in Welsh doesn't it?

DH had a similar problem this time round with girl's names: he likes plain names (imo) like Mary and Agnes whereas I like super-feminine ones like Arabella and Angelina.

It got quite heated because I felt the only way we'd ever be able to name the child (if a girl) would be if one or both of us really compromised and went with a name we didn't love.

But... After sharing list after list with my faves on every one, out of the blue he said my top name was growing on him and he would consider it. It's now become THE name!

So, I would suggest coming up with your fave one or two names and then keep mentioning it/them!

I agree with first poster too - get a shortish list and then see what happens after the baby arrives. Many a woman has had first choice on names after a tricky labour - happened to me with DS1 in fact.

Good luck!

skidoodly it's not he wont marry me, its just not something we can afford to do the way i want right now iyswim.

i mentioned Caeo to him but he wasn't overly keen, it's defo going on my list though. i think it's a grower.

i'm just going to keep plugging away with my own list and see what we can come up with.

thanks all.
