What does everyone think?

I like it. It's a stronger take on all the usual flower names. My friend seriously considered it for her baby.

But I am in Ireland where it is really unusual. Somebody told me it was over used in America in the 70s and so it doesn't sound refreshingly different to all ears.

nobody would bat and eyelid at a heather up here - not unusual at all but not outdated either...

I like it too but I have two Heathers as friends who are both really lovely so that influences!

I have two friends called Heather also, who are both lovely. They are both in their late 20s, and neither are Scottish.

I have however heard the nickname Hairy Heather used, behind one of their backs.

Bethan is a Welsh name, and much nicer than Bethany (which IMO sounds made up).

I know a Bethan, and I am never confused as to want to call her Bethany. She usually goes by Beth though.

I think it is really pretty and you don't hear it very often. I have a friend in her thirties called Heather and I always think her name stands out in the group - it is a nice name to say, quite gentle if you know what I mean.

i have a sister called Heather, she is 27 she always got called H for short, literally just H pronounced haitch!

and our surname begins with a P so she was also called HPsauce!
