For a girl.

My friend is seriously considering it.

I said "Oh, that's nice"

But now I'm thinking.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PandaG · 21/06/2010 17:04

reminds me of the odd character in Harry Potter. personally wouldn't choose it.

Stokey · 21/06/2010 17:06

I really liked it but dh said it was a dog name, other friends said Looney...

But its quite popular in spain (dh half spanish) & I would definitely have used it had i been allowed

diplodoris · 21/06/2010 17:09

It's a nice meaning but could end up with "lunatic" or "loony" as nicknames! Lana, Lunetta or Lana might be safer bets.

diplodoris · 21/06/2010 17:10

Should have said Lena!

Or how about Laura or Lianna?

southeastastra · 21/06/2010 17:12

nice especially if surname is landings

NiceCuppaT · 21/06/2010 17:26

...tic

liliputlady · 21/06/2010 17:49

My DH is always telling our DDs "stop behaving like a loon", so it probably would have been a good name for one of them.

I can see it's quite a pretty name, but I imediately associate it with "lunatic" so it's a No from me.

Lena, Lara, Laura etc safer.

ticktockclock · 21/06/2010 17:52

I like it very much.

Bonsoir · 21/06/2010 17:53

No.

It's quite popular in France among the lower classes.

Firawla · 21/06/2010 18:41

it's alright but does remind me of loony..

what about lula or lola

Jamieandhismagictorch · 21/06/2010 20:06

I like it

I like lots of L names for girls

Leah
Lara

My Sardinian friend has a Luna and a Mauro.

Frank Lumplard Jnr has a Luna too.

BikeRunSki · 21/06/2010 20:26

Mamas and Papas pushchair.

minko · 21/06/2010 20:28

Hmm. Does she have a son called Jim?

SE13Mummy · 21/06/2010 22:11

I have taught a Luna and think it's a lovely name (and a delightful child). I've never heard her be teased for being loony/loopy/whatever.

LynetteScavo · 22/06/2010 18:56

SE13, that's good to know.

I did wonder if she's made if up...but if it's popular in France...

It does look nice written down, and sound nice, but personally I couldn't use it.

mamaloco · 22/06/2010 19:03

Certainly not made up. Means moon in latin (hence luna-tic= influenced by the moon). I know one she is the loveliest person I have ever met.

ticktockclock · 22/06/2010 20:09

Yes it does mean moon and it is very common in Spain as well.

4madboys · 22/06/2010 20:24

LC200 · 22/06/2010 20:56

I am not keen on Luna. LOVE Lana and would have had it for dd until I realised it was anal backwards...

sunchild77 · 23/06/2010 08:10

Hazeyjane · 23/06/2010 08:20

I think it is lovely

and I don't think it really sounds like any of the other names suggested.

RuthieCohen · 23/06/2010 08:23

check that her surname doesn't begin with 'C' before proceeding.

TriplePachyderm · 23/06/2010 08:28
