Can Christian have a brother called Gabriel and can Etienne be a girl?

So, can they?

We already have a Christian but he is known as Kit and is number 2 of what will be 5, Gabriel would be number 5, is this too twee?

Also contemplating Xavier and Alexander, toying with Samuel and Finley but they feel a bit common (disclaimer - in a numbers not class way!)

And, Etienne, we KNOW it's a boys name but we love it for a girl... how cruel would it be to have a little girl Etienne? Neither DH or I are likely to ever go and live in Frnace but of course this doesn't mean 'Etienne' wouldn't and I imagine it might be as hard for a girl Etienne in France as it would be for a french female Steve here...

As an aside what's the MN consensus on Anastasia or Lydia?

like gabriel and think it's fine with Christian especially if they're part of a larger family. it will be open to mispronunciation and teasing though?

etienne for a girl - no. sorry. like lydia. don't like anastasia.

french girls names ending in enne: Vivienne, Solenne,

Etienne is definitely for boys only (I am french). They have both in the US, because it is also a last name (which then get used as an asexual 1st name). Be kind to your DD. It is a very manly name too, I think of etienne as a sweaty, muscular mecanics with smears of oil on his tank top! Lydia and anastasia are both lovely.

Anastasia means 'resurrection' if you're anxious to not appear too evangelical, but I don't know how many people would think of that.

I think Christian and Gabriel would be fine.
I like both of your girl's names (Lydia and Anastasia) but Etienne

Etienne would be fine..... for a French boy,

Alexander is lovely, don't like Gabriel

Christian & Gabirel would be too much.

I like the idea of Kit and Finn or Kit and Sam.

I think that with five unless you have a very strong New Testament theme going on Gabriel is fine. Especially as your Christian is a Kit. I have a cousin Gabriel (often known as Gabe) who has never been teased for it - he was an angelic little boy and a very charismatic teen/your adult though. I don't understand the pronunciation issue - surely there is only one way to say Gabriel?

I don't think it's very fair to call a girl a boys name, so no to Etienne from me. I think that Lydia is OK and Anastasia is great, though quite Russian to me (I have another cousin called Anastasia who is half Russian). The Russian diminutive is Nastya but my cousin was Stazia and now Annie.

I wouldn't use Etienne for a girl unless it was with Marie and probably not even then as it's definitely a boys name but we are French so that might skew my view.

Lydia I like, also NT I believe? Gabriel is nice and I love Xavier. Anastasia not so keen - I always hear 'nasty' in the middle.
