Slightly unusual names preferred but open to suggestions. Middle name will be Peter

we appear to be in the same boat. . . . I dont need to worry about boys names as we will be using our family names, Edward William (Teddy and Billy)but not sure which way round. If I was considering something else though they might be

Angus
Jacob
Isaac

I'll think about it some more and get back to you

We definitely are in the same boat, in fact i think you are my long lost twin! i have an Isaac! Jacob is one of my favourite ever names but far too similar to DS1 name and my godson is called this, spooky you thought same as me. As for Angus not that keen but we live in scotland if that qualifies!

p.s DS1 was going to be called Billy until my mum told us that billy F---- was the name of someone she was bullied by at school!

Dominic?

We too have a one syllable surname. I think you should choose a two syllable first name that is unlikely to shortened. (I'd avoid three syllable names that are likely to be shortened).

How about:

Quentin
Marcus
Tristan
Oscar

Our DS is Edward Peter and we have a 1 syllable surname. But other names I like that I thought went with Peter:

Christopher
Barnaby
Jeremy

They all seem to be quite long as I thought that sounded good with a short surname.

sophiesmummie · 16/06/2010 21:49

The risk with long names is that they WILL be shortened (e.g. Christopher to Chris) and that shortened name may not go so well with a short surname.

Better to choose a 2 syllable name that is less likely to be shortened.

Angus
Bradley
Charlie
David
Duncan
Edward

Well I tried one for each letter of the alphabet. My favourite is Kyron but it may get shortened to Kye.

Best of luck in your quest.
