I'm not pregnant, so you don't need to worry about offending a highly hormonal woman, but this is one of my favourite names for a little girl. We're not sure if we'll go for DC3, but if we do, I always thought this is what we'd name a daughter. Having mentioned it to 2 close friends lately, they were both fairly non-committal, so I'm guessing they weren't keen and didn't want to offend me, so am just wondering what general consensus is?

Do you think it's too twee? I'm not bothered about the fact that Rosie is fairly popular, but if it's the sort of name that makes everybody cringe, then I don't want to saddle my daughter with it, even if I love it . - Feel free to be as brutal as you wish, i really won't be offended if you hate it! (and obviously very pleased if you like it).

Too sweet sounding imo. Really don't like Rosie as an official first name, fine as a nickname

katechristie · 06/06/2010 19:51

yes I got the impression they both thought it a bit gypsy-rose sugary walton-ish too. thanks for your honesty

I think it is cute for a little girl, pretty for a carefree teenager but maybe not so suitable if she wanted to become say, a professional woman in a corporate environment IYKWIM

MagalyZz · 06/06/2010 20:11

It's a bit saccharine for my tastes.
But I like Rosemary Bella as a full name. Less girly wurly sounding.

katechristie · 06/06/2010 20:17

yes, I guess I'm just thinking of the baby girl, rather than the grown-up. Back to the thinking board then - after a mis-hap the other night I need to start thinking about it incase the hormones take over.
and thanks for the honesty without being too rude

Why don't you call her Rosemary Isabella or something like that, and then shorten it to Rosie Bella?
I think as a nickname it's lovely, and will set her apart from all of the other Rose's in her class at school!

Shaz10 · 06/06/2010 20:37

Rubella?

oopsandbabycoconut · 06/06/2010 20:41

I know a Rosa Bella she is known as Rosie.

LetThereBeRock · 06/06/2010 20:53

I like both names very much but they really don't work when used together.

Okay, that is my favorite - Isabella Rose. Perfect. OP, there's your answer.

ROFL @ kalo12.

EricNorthmansmistress · 07/06/2010 11:31

Rosemary better than Rosie as a full name. Bella is pretty.

GladioliBuckets · 07/06/2010 17:23

Really does sound like a skin condition I'm afraid.

SleepyCaz · 07/06/2010 17:24

Rosie Bella is lovely!

Am hoping for a DC 3 in the next year or so, and need names beginning with J, but only like the 2 I already have, eeek!

Psammead · 07/06/2010 18:29

Rosabella?

Don't like Rosie Bella too much.

katechristie · 07/06/2010 22:07

kalo12 and gladiolibuckets, enough, you've persuaded me! Isabella Rose I do love, thanks
