What do you think of Verity as a girl's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

lovely

lidofabiro · 04/06/2010 20:14

Verity - not so keen
Eden - lovely
Emily - lovely
Evie - like if short for something
Jessica - very nice
Elisabeth - quite like
Annie - like if short for something

Eden Jessica would be a lovely name.

Disechanted, brothers little one is Ava, hubby hates Amelie says trying to hard to be clever . Love Edie, would probably use as a nn for Eden.
Need a middle name for Eden to help sell it to hubby, I like how Eden Rose flows but fancy something not as popular. Any ideas?

I love Verity - it was on my list for DD.

DastardlyandSmugly · 04/06/2010 21:33

My DB's baby is due in two weeks to be called Verity or Ophelia. I like both but think Verity edges it.

BuzzingNoise · 04/06/2010 21:45

I don't like it. It's harsh sounding and pretentious.

JaxTellersOldLady · 04/06/2010 21:47

I love it! so there.

I do, I know a girl called Verity and she is lovely, kind and pretty too.

mathanxiety · 05/06/2010 01:32

Verity is very twee.

I think it sounds primmer than prim.

Eden on the other hand, I love, and it could be shortened to Edie. I also love Annie from your list.

Eden Grace
Eden Audrey
Eden Elizabeth
Eden Aynsley
Eden Avery
Eden Charlotte
Eden Rachel
Eden Sophia
Eden Blythe
Eden Cecelia/ Cecily
Eden Isla
Eden Isabella/Isobel

Eden makes me think the parents must be either hippy dippy (or religious fundamentalist).
Fine if you are a hippy dippy world peace and love optimist, just beware of the obvious association.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 05/06/2010 09:50

Verity was on our shortlist but is apparently becoming quite popular.

Eden I think is a bit too 'trying to be different' and does make me think of hippies etc.

meadowlarks · 05/06/2010 12:29

I have a good friend (girl) called Eden, and it suits her so well. No one ever makes "garden of Eden" jokes, though I did ask if her parents are religious when we first met (They're Italian Catholics).

On another note, you may want to save Eden, because in my opinion, it's one of the only unisex names that works equally well on a boy, one of which I also know. And yes, it really suits him too.

brennannbooth · 05/06/2010 17:29

Like it v much. think it is a classy name.

NanKid · 05/06/2010 18:31

Eden is a bit...um...trying to think of a word that isn't the c word. But anyway - NO.

Verity is awful.

alfiemama · 05/06/2010 20:23

Crikey, real differences of opinions here.
Why are girls names so hard?

DS2 was going to be Verity. So I love it.

Eden is not one that I would use.

ravenAK · 05/06/2010 22:50

I think Verity's great - couldn't use it for either dd, because I'd already wasted it on a cat!

highlystrung · 06/06/2010 19:13

I like it
