...and I don't even know if it is a boy, but this is the only name I have really loved over the last month of so.

So, names we have for a boy are:

Christian (nn Kit)
Hector
Dashiell (nn Dash)
Isaac (nn Ike or Zac)... I love this but am worried that it's too popular now - and yes, I do care about that sort of thing I'm afraid...

with either Alexander or Benjamin for middle name.

And girls names:

Valentina (nn Nina)
Marianne (nn Annie, but would probably call her Marianne mostly)
Constance (nn Connie, which I love - much more than I like Constance, but I'm of the long formal name variety, so would never christen her Connie, IYSWIM)

with middle name Lily, probably.

Already have a 14 mo DD who is Penelope Lucy (Pen / Penny / Penpots for short).

Last name is Reed.

What would you go for, for boy or girl?

Promise I won't do a million of these threads in the last month, so do give me some feedback!

Thanks.

Sorry all ? went on holiday to France a week last Friday and didn?t get a chance to respond to your suggestions!

oceryo - Alexander is too close to my own name for a first name, and Benjamin has always been a middle name in my mind. Of your other suggestions, I love William (Billy) but this is my nephew?s name, and Zachary, but feel it is getting too popular.

Jellybeans - I didn?t have a very good hit rate with you, did I?! I too prefer Connie to Constance but would always have the long version as her formal name.

Looby - wow ? what a great selection! From those I like Lucia, Juliet and Clementine the best, but not as much as Constance / Connie I think...

Hocuspontas - I see what you are saying... but I would always prefer to have the longer version as an option for the LO when they get older... so in essence I would be choosing to name my kid either Tor (Hector) or Connie (Contstance), but on their birth certificate it would have the longer version. They can then decide (or others around them I suppose) what their name will be and I know I will probably have very little to do with it! I was christened Alexandra (which I like, as a long formal name) but was called Alex up until my teens (which my parents used) and then I became Ali at university and is what people call me now (even my parents do, even though I?m sure they prefer Alex...)

Anyway, as an update, we went to France last week (at 37 + 4) and had a lovely time. We went on a long journey to the Chateau Neuf du Pape region to buy a case of wine to celebrate this LO?s arrival in a couple of weeks, and used the drive to decide on the names.

We have:

Hector Benjamin (Tor for short)
Constance Ava (Connie for short).

I still like Lily as a middle name but think a vowel goes better with Constance...

DH vetoed Christian-known-as-Kit in the end, much to my chagrin.

DH now back in Sudan and I?m crossing my legs until he returns on the 4th!
Thanks for everyone?s help...

Lovely to hear the names you've chosen

I like your list! Kit will def stick as a nn if you want it to. My faves are Christian (with Alexander for a middle name) and Constance.

Not keen on any of the giirls names I'm afraid

Just a quick update - DH made it back from Sudan in time, I gave birth on my due date, and we called her Constance Ella in the end... but very much a Connie to both of us - Constance only for the more formal occasions!
