Hey, as a Lucy I wanted to say I actually think all comments are pretty fair, I just wanted to say when I was younger I always wanted to have something slightly different so at 16 started spelling my name Lucie or Luci as it seemed to have a bit of an edge to it!

I also LOVE the name Lucinda, just wanted to throw that idea into the mix.

I have always liked the name Lucy and like the nicknames I have heard... Lulu, Lala, and Lolly!

BleachedWhale · 24/05/2010 14:26

Loo-chee-ah or Loosha?

Not Lucille. Or 'Lucie'

Lucy is lovely as is Lulu, and Lucia.

Lucille too American.

BafanaBafana · 24/05/2010 16:38

Lucille is my favourite. Such a pretty, underused name.

Lucia is a strange one. Is it Loosha, Loo-see-ah or Loo-chee-ah? Too much room for confusion.

sedgiebaby · 24/05/2010 16:44

lulu is my fave, it was common in the 1900's I like the new-cool old ladies names!

Mandi1984 · 24/05/2010 18:49

any of them but Lulu!

CantSupinate · 24/05/2010 18:52

I like Lucinda with Lucy as nn .
Lulu sounds like a stripper, sorry!!
How does one pronounce Lucia? "Lusha"? "Loo-see-ah"?

From experience I am now biased towards giving children names with unambivalent pronunciation and spelling.

Lulumaam · 24/05/2010 18:53

I have a lulu, who was Lucy for about 2 days. changed her name via deed poll to lulu... if she gets to 16 and detests it, we will pay to change it back

Amapoleon · 24/05/2010 18:55

I am Lucy but my nickname was Lulu.

minipie · 24/05/2010 19:04

I like Lucia (Loo-see-ah not Loo-chee-ah unless you are Spanish).

Definitely not Lulu except as a nn.

My middle name is Lucia (pronounced Lu-sha) and I love it .

Go for that one. Not that I'm biased!

BikeRunSki · 27/05/2010 13:09

Lulu as a nn, with Louise/a as real name. That is what I would call a girl if I had one.

MadreInglese · 27/05/2010 13:11

I like Lucille

SillyTillyBilly · 29/05/2010 18:41

Lucy

ilovemydogandMrObama · 29/05/2010 19:05

Lucille is my grandmother's name, although my family have a weird tradition of being called by their middle name, so she's actually Emilia Lucille.

SacharissaCripslock · 29/05/2010 19:09

Lucy. But spell it Lucie.

jellybeans · 29/05/2010 19:21

I like Lucy and then Lucinda. Lucia I never know if there is accent (lew-chi-a) or lew-see-a).
