I liked Tia the best

cupofteaplease · 05/05/2010 20:25

I like Jumo and Mimosa- you could use Mimi for short

missmoopy · 05/05/2010 20:27

Eulalie sounds like a name for vagina! Sorry.

Juno - love
Loelei - love
Minerva - love

The rest make me cringe.

Disenchanted3 · 05/05/2010 20:28

Love Juno,

love scurry!

hellymelly · 05/05/2010 20:31

I don't think you would choose Eulalie if you have read any PG woodhouse.
I nearly used Mimosa as it is my favourite flower but it didn't work with our double barrelled surname (although sadly was great with my maiden name) and I don't like Mimi which probably would be used as a nn by most people.Out of your list I am keen on Juno the most.

BrigitteBardot · 05/05/2010 20:32

I like Juno, Lorelei and Ginevra

Acanthus · 05/05/2010 20:36

Minerva and Ginevra take me straight back to Harry Potter. Juno (goddess) seems a bit pretentious. Lorelei seems wrong for Britain (if that's where you are) with overtones of Hawaiian flowers. And azaleas are common flowers.

Calla and Eulalie I like. Is Cerelia one you made up?

oceryo · 05/05/2010 20:44

Callia is OK, although I think Callie is nicer. I quite like Mimosa (prefer Miriam though) and Azalea. Cerelia reminds me of breakfast cereal.

Whelk · 05/05/2010 20:45

I think they are all trying a bit to hard too be honest!

CuppaTeaJanice · 05/05/2010 20:46

Callia/ Calla - a nice alternative to Lily. Sounds vaguely medical though, maybe best to check it's not the name of a disease before you choose it.

Minerva - I met a Minerva Chicken once. Like it. Minnie for short?

Eulalie (you-lay-lee) - She'll never be able to have a boyfriend called Lee!

Mimosa - Reminds me of breasts.

Juno - the film with the pregnant teen.

Cerelia (se-ray-le-ah)- haven't heard it before. Possible problems with spelling/pronounciation?

Azalea - too obviously plant-like.

Lorelei - My neice's middle name. Beautiful, mysterious and ethereal.

Ginevra (gin-ev-ra) - Not keen on Ginny - a bit horsey for my taste.

Lorelei is the best by far.

Trying very hard indeed. Nah none of them for me ( I look at these threads for inspiration - i am tragic)

cece · 05/05/2010 20:49

Callia/ Calla - absolutely love Cally
Minerva - a bit witchy imo
Eulalie (you-lay-lee)- not heard this one before, not sure
Mimosa - no
Juno - no
Cerelia (se-ray-le-ah)- sounds like some sort of illness
Azalea - LOL so no
Lorelei - no
Ginevra (gin-ev-ra)- no but like Genevieve
Tia love!

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 05/05/2010 20:51

I like Minerva (the Harry Potter connection passes me by).

The rest are odd without being attractive, in my view.

Gigantaur · 05/05/2010 20:54

Im afraud u thibnk they are all trying too hard to be pretty but different. ther are just pretty different. sorry

MrsRhettButler · 05/05/2010 20:57

love lorelei

i know it was a joke but don't you like tia? its a very pretty but simple (in a good way) name

cece · 05/05/2010 21:07

If you really want to stand out and be different call her Jane. Have never taught one in all my 20 years of teaching.

scurryfunge · 05/05/2010 21:09

I love the name Tia also but to name a child after a MN acronym would be funny....what next? Rofl or imho?

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 05/05/2010 21:16

Cece - Exactly. I always suggest Jane and Peter for people who really want to be quirky and original. Every class these days has an Artemis and a Finbarr!

Oh, I thought Cerelia was one of the worst as it sounded like a muesli bar!

I love the diversity of MN!

MoChan · 05/05/2010 21:26

I like Eulalie, even despite the Wodehouse thing; considered it myself, but I think you'd have to have the right surname for it (I didn't). I also like Ginevra. Didn't realise it crops up in Harry Potter.

Cerelia really does make me think of breakfast cereal. Juno and Minerva are both nice, though.

SoupDragon · 05/05/2010 21:29

Eulalie - no no no! Call her Ukulele and be done with it.

Ginevra/Minerva - Harry Potter, as someone else said.

Actually, I don't like any of them. Maybe Callia.

deepdarkwood · 05/05/2010 21:31

Love Lorelei, like Callia, Minerva and Juno

Cerelia = too like cereal
Azalea = old lady flower (I know there are lots of lovely flower names, but I don't like Azaleas)
Eulalie = too much like Eukalalie (sp??? the instrument, that is not how it's spelt but am meant to be working so won't google

EdgarAllenPoll · 05/05/2010 21:35

Callia/ Calla - no, calla lillis are given at bereavment.
Minerva - yes. i like it, Greek and 'istorical and all.
Eulalie (you-lay-lee)- no. sounds like a weird muscial instrument.
Mimosa - is a genus of mobile plants, though some have pretty flowers..
Juno - queen of the gods. a big name for alittle girl! fine if you think she can handle it. i liked the film of that name, but that will be long forotten when she is old enough to know her own name.
Cerelia - is this a name derived from the roman goddess of agriculture Ceres...wouldn't Celia be less fussy?
Azalea - bit too plant-oriented.
Lorelei - shortens to 'Lorry' don't like.
Ginevra - although i love Gin, i wouldn't name my daughter after it.
