I posted on here a litle while ago and got some fab suggestions for my triplet boys who are due any day now.

So, they are going to be:

Fergus Andrew
Isaac Peter
Austin Henry

What do you think?
The middle names are family names.
Two of the boys are identical but I can't decide who will have which name.

Not so keen on Austin, but love love love Isaac and Fergus. Congratulations!

ReneRusso · 23/04/2010 19:16

I think they're great names, well done

Northernlurker · 23/04/2010 19:16

Nice names - congratulations on finding 6 names you like - most of us only have to do 2 at a time

Good luck with the birth and the early days.

Dumbledoresgirl · 23/04/2010 19:20

I love Austin, which is odd because it is not a name I have considered before. Isaac is ok, Fergus, well I know one. He is nice enough but tried to set fire to my house when he was little so I have reservations about it. I like the fact they are "non-matching" names. Much better idea than triplets called something that rhymes, or names with the same initial letter.

glastocat · 23/04/2010 19:25

I also thought of Austin Healy. The other two names are lovely though, especially Fergus.

GrimmaTheNome · 23/04/2010 19:37

Nice names, but I think I'd have Isaac Henry and Austin Peter to (a) avoid that car thing and (b) so that the 3 biblical names are evenly spread.

padraig · 23/04/2010 19:55

I kind of like Issac.

I dislike Austin.

I dislike Fergus because it's blates going to be nicknamed Fergie.

Middle names are all nice.

Oh congratulationas and bloody good luck!

Lovely, strong individual names.

Triplets - wow! How exciting!!!!

imahappycamper · 23/04/2010 20:26

Austin Powers?
I know an adult Austin who has chosen to be known by his middle name because he finds Austin embarrassing.

ladyandthechocolate · 23/04/2010 22:33

Interesting, thanks for your feedback. It's really difficult finding three names that sit well together without sounding too contrived.
I already have a DD (Phoebe).

I am going off Austin as well. Don't know why because I've been sure about it for ages. Thinking of William instead. I think it's the Austin Powers thing that puts me off.

Congratulations.

I like both Isaac and Fergus, but dislike Austin as a first name, but that is because it is my surname and am not to keen on the surname for first name thing.

Fergus is great, so great infact that I'm going away now to put it on my shortlist - cheers.

LaDiDaDi · 23/04/2010 22:40

Gorgeous names imo.

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 23/04/2010 23:11

Love Isaac, Fergus is ok, less keen on Austin (its the car and the Powers thing). Much prefer your alternatives of either William or Reuben.

Congratulations x3 and best of luck for when they arrive.

twosofar · 24/04/2010 07:29

Fergus and Isaac are nice

Really dislike Austin (Ausin Powers, Austin Allegro/Austin Healey - all awful)

...could you convince DH to go for Henry Austin??

Fergus, Isaac and Henry MUCH nicer IMHO

Best of luck with the boys' arrival! xx

Just to counter all this I know an adult Austin (30s) and the Austin Powers etc thing isn't an issue.
Well he's a colleague so maybe we are all polite and well mannered at work

DrivenToDistraction · 24/04/2010 21:24

Phoebe, Fergus, Isaac and William is a lot better than Phoebe, Fergus, Isaac and Austin.

Phoebe, Fergus, Isaac and Henry is better still but, being a family name, I suppose that could cause problems.

Unfortunately William doesn't work too well with any of the middle names. All the combinations feel a bit stiff to me IYSWIM.

I'm with your DP on Phoebe, Fergus, Isaac and Reuben, I'm afraid! How about Phoebe, Fergus, Isaac and Alex? Or Phoebe, Fergus, Isaac and
Vincent?

campion · 24/04/2010 23:56

Go with William. He'll thank you for it one day!

Austin looks like you'd run out of ideas ( sorry)

debaronz · 25/04/2010 11:06

William

menomena · 25/04/2010 16:48

Fergus Andrew - cool name, very solid choice. Fergus is quite unexpected on a baby and I think it's quite quirky (in a good way)

Isaac Peter - Really nice, also a solid choice, love both the names

Austin Henry - Agree with the others who are not keen on Austin but I love Henry! I would just flip it around to Henry Austin, or I also like William which you mentioned in another reply. William Henry might be a bit royal compared to the other names but I do like it.

cece · 25/04/2010 16:50

Fergus is a make of tractor
Austin is a make of car.

Just an observation

ladyandthechocolate · 25/04/2010 21:15

Can't get DH to agree to Reuben but we have agreed on William. He's not keen on Henry as a first name.
So I think:

Fergus Andrew
Isaac Steven
William Peter

So grateful for the feedback (and the congratulations), it helps me look at names in a different way. I've been umming and ahhing over names so long I lose my objective view.

Congratulations on the pregnancy & good luck for the impending birth/first few months

As for names, I agree that Austin is so so, William much better. BUT I don't really think William Peter sounds good, can't put my finger onto why exactly, others might have an idea about why that is. William Henry also sounds too much in a certain way. Personally I would combine William with something slightly less classic, less 'in the same category' if you see what I mean. Have you got other family names you could consider?

soda1234 · 25/04/2010 21:50

Love William, but in the Austin "theme"- which I consider surname-type names, have you thought of Owen (or Eion, or Owain).
Fergus, Isaac and Owen sounds great.
