I really like the name Finn, but with our surname Frost - do you think it sounds weird? As in too alliterative?

thanks!

Finley Frost is better but still a bit of a tongue twister.

Agree with the above, sounds like Thin Frost.

Lovely name, but yes, too many Fs!

I would also avoid Jack

irisblue · 21/04/2010 12:46

Ha ha! Didn't think of 'Thin Frost'...

...and Jack is already out for the similar reason!

I like a bit of alliteration, doesn't sound weirder than Ben Bond or Jamie Johnson.

Firawla · 21/04/2010 13:20

I think it sounds cute, although didn't think of the thin frost thing..
I think its still useable though

I have an alliterative name and always really hated it - although people have told me it is cool I don't agree! I like the name Finn but think Finn Frost is a bit too sing-songy and agree with the thin frost comment. Finley is a bit better but there are loads of nice boys' names that don't begin with F - why not choose one of them?

Petifilou · 23/04/2010 17:54

I think the alliteration would be OK if the first name had more syllables, which is why Finlay works better than Finn.

I know a few people with alliterative names (although TBH most married into them) and they usually sound fine.

justallovertheplace · 23/04/2010 17:58

It sounds like you are complaining about the weather (f'ing frost)

Lovethesea · 23/04/2010 22:18

Fintan Frost?

Fingal Frost?

FanjolinaJolie · 24/04/2010 22:23

too many F's I think

bran · 24/04/2010 22:38

Finbar Frost? I've always liked the name Finbar, it sounds sturdy.

Soften it up by lengthening Finn. Make it Finbar Frost?

I like alliteration and one of my children's names is alliterative. But there are more syllables, imo it works better than Finn Frost, which sounds a bit chop chop.

Clary · 24/04/2010 22:56

Hmm I'm not sure about Finn Frost. I think for one you need a longer name. Finley Frost sounds better.

I think you need to be careful with alliteration. Ben Bond is not great IMO; It sometimes works tho; I know a Maisie Morgan and I think that's OK.

LOL @ Jack.

Frost is a great surname actually. I think you need an open sound at the end of the first name so it doesn't sound too harsh - Harvey, Jamie, Stanley, Billy etc.

herethereandeverywhere · 24/04/2010 23:06

Nothing wrong with alliteration! My DH is an MM and I would have been had my parents not chickened out (due to it being an MM!)I wish they hadn't though.

I think it can be catchy and rememberable, though in the case of Finn Frost, it does sound like Thin Frost. Can he not be Finlay?

MilkNoSugarPlease · 25/04/2010 00:39

I Love it!!

pinefarmpooperscooper · 25/04/2010 22:07

My Maiden name is Frost!
I have a DD called Grace (or Gracie) Garrett. Thought it was fine at the time?

pinefarmpooperscooper · 25/04/2010 22:08

I loved Sophia & Charlotte aswell... but then i thought, why am i letting the 2 G's put me off.. you won't call him Fin Frost anyway!

pinefarmpooperscooper · 25/04/2010 22:10

What i mean is, if you llove Finn that much, then just go for it?!

Finnbarfrost98 · 05/04/2015 01:54

Lol my names Finn Jack Frost. Tell me you chose Finn?

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 05/04/2015 12:56

Ooh I Wouldn't have thought of thin frost and I'm s real deep thinker with names.
FinbAr is lovely but it could be shortened to Finn, so I'd avoid any name with Finn with the lSt nsme Frost.
Grin @ Jack.

madreloco · 05/04/2015 13:52

The kid in question is almost 5, so I'm guessing its a bit late to advise on names.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 05/04/2015 21:16
