Scarlett Olympia - i'm bracing myself!!

Love both names but am aware that most people will consider Olympia to be far too 'up my own backside'. I was at school with an Olympia and she was fab and have loved the name ever since.

Scarlett, I think, is a beautiful name but doesn't really have any good shortened versions/nicknames but it's lovely as it is (I think).

I have a short surname.

Your thoughts would be really appreciated.

How funny, Allegra was on my original list too! Agree its a fine line. I try not to be too bothered about whether others think its pretentious, more bothered about whether my child will hate me for it later! Love Paloma by the way. Am I making things more difficult??!

Scarlett's lovely, and who cares what people think about the middle name.

I prefer Scarlett to Olympia though it is popular.
It was not a surname in Gone WtW - Ellen O'Hara's maiden name was Robillard. Was a middle name - Katie Scarlett - and indicated that her father was a bit new money/lacked class etc. Not entirely relevant to 2010, though WAG connection is amusing!

Scarlett and Olympia are both statement names, I think. Both very strong. Could you give her a more ordinary middle name to give her an option? That said, Pia is a very pretty shortening for Olympia and a name in it's own right when spelt Piya - think the latter is a Sikh name.
