Girls name & pronunciation help

I'm due with DD1 today (!) and DH and I still can't decide on a name.

Names on the list include:
Elinor (nn Ellie, my current fave, DH not too keen)
Matilda (nn Tilly, love this too)
Sophia (DHs fave, I'm not too keen)
Lucie (not too sure on this one)

Middle name will be Alice, our surname rhymes with 'Allcott'.
OPinions please!

Quick question:
Is there a difference in the pronunciation of Elinor vs. Eleanor? DH is German and we live in Germany so we are thinking the German pronounciation of the former will be closer to the English pronunciation of the latter. Or would the Brits pronounce Elinor differently?

Definately Elinor / Eleanor. Goes really well with middle name too. Wouldn't go for Matilda / Tilly, far too many babies with this name about at the mo IMO.

I have an Eleanor and know an Elinor. Both pronounced same round here (home counties).

Thanks for the replies. Am still hoping to persuade DH to go for Elinor

I love Sophia or Matilda.

There are thousands and thousands of Ellies, don't know about Germany, but you can't throw a brick without beaning one in some places.

  1. Eleanor (I don't like the other spelling, though I would pronounce them slightly differently - El Eh Nor v El in or)
  1. Lucy (once again with the different spelling)
  1. Tilly (Not Matilda - but another 'long' name if you don't like Tilly)
  1. Sophie - just not keen.
