I am totally stuck for girl's names but quite like Yvaine which would probably become Yvie for short (pronounced Evie). What does everyone think?

every baby girl born around here at moment is either evie or mia think of something else if you want something different

I don't particularly want to be different but I want a nice name, all names go through fashionable phases and that is usually because they sound nice.

We were considering Yvaine for our third, but he's now Joel!

missyfafa · 07/04/2010 23:36

Yes, there is always that possibility!

If you go for Yvie be prepared for a lifetime of misspellings... I think it would drive me nuts

JosephineClaire · 08/04/2010 09:53

I think Yvaine and Yvie are both lovely - and although some names might be popular, that doesn't mean they should be discounted..

I also like Iris.

Yvaine is lovely - the evening star who comes to earth in Stardust. Yvie is sweet too - you only need to tell people how to spell something once. It really doesn't matter. I say that as someone who has grown up with a name that is not spelt as it sounds - it just made me feel special, that's all. It was not a hindrance.
