Budgie?
Magpie?
Turkey?

Or are we doing US towns? Baltimore? Minneapolis? Palm-Springs (note hip trendy hypenation)

Don't do it.

janeite · 05/04/2010 18:02

Erm - no. Sorry. It's dreadful.

bobbiewickham · 05/04/2010 18:04

I know a lad called Phoenix.

His brother is called Eden.

I'm saying nowt.

honeybunmum · 05/04/2010 18:14

Sorry, I just think of River Phoenix... and I always thought he had a stupid name.

cracklingfire · 05/04/2010 18:14

Hmm getting some negative vibes here. Why exactly?

OP posts:
Bucharest · 05/04/2010 18:17

Because it's not a proper name?

MrsMargate · 05/04/2010 18:20

I think you should give the poor boy a real name.

janeite · 05/04/2010 18:21

It is the name of a mythical bird - not a real boy. Pinnochio better for that reason, maybe? It just sounds really try hard 'out there' to me, sorry.

honeybunmum · 05/04/2010 18:28

I think you need to think about your son growing up? Chances are he will be teased, will it suit him as a toddler, teen, adult? You can't even shorten it.

NomDePlume · 05/04/2010 18:32

i'm not a fan

telsa · 05/04/2010 18:38

I know a Phoenix - brother is Indigo. I expect there are a few around - so go for it if you like it.

donnie · 05/04/2010 18:44

awful - you will regret it. Why can't people choose normal names ? people will shorten it to Fee or Nix. Lovely.

cracklingfire · 05/04/2010 19:06

What about if I give him a normal middle name? Is it because it sounds girlie?

OP posts:
ShadeofViolet · 05/04/2010 19:36

Its a bit of an odd one and its quite girly I think - Mel B's older daughter is called Phoenix Chi.

dustycups · 05/04/2010 19:40

i no a phoenix, his brother is lexus!!! not keen on either!!

cracklingfire · 05/04/2010 19:45

So I did a search on Felix and people generally like this one. They sound very similar. What is the difference?

I like it. Although I do see it has being girly. I have an aunty called Phoenix.

It's much better than names like Charlie, Alfie, Harry, Ben, etc which are all very dull names imo.

honeybunmum · 05/04/2010 20:32

Felix = cat.

livefortoday · 05/04/2010 20:46

cracklingfire - i LOVE the name phoenix!!!!

hate felix!

i hope to use phoenix myself one day regardless of opinions. do what your heart tells you.

livviloo · 05/04/2010 22:54

if you want people to laugh at him and to laugh at you go for it. I guess it depends how thick skinned you are and how thick skinned you hope him to be.

jollydiane · 05/04/2010 22:59

Do you really think DS will thank you for his unusual name?
