Very similar to Simpson.

as a first or a middle name?

plonker · 03/04/2010 15:41

Yes, IMO.

Rose Simpson would sound like Row Simpson

LadyOfTheFlowers · 03/04/2010 15:44

As the first name - I suspected it did.

Same as I can't use Lois as it becomes 'Lowie'.

Oh what a crap surname.

would you consider Rosalind then, known as Rose?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 03/04/2010 15:48

DH doesn't like Rosalind.

He likes Rose or Sophia.

Luisa known as Lois?!?

plonker · 03/04/2010 16:07

Sophia Simpson sounds very cool!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 03/04/2010 18:54

Thanks Plonker, I think so too, but had to have one last plug with Rose, just to be sure.

Rosanna?

thirtysomething · 06/04/2010 09:01

I don't think it does - Rose Simpson or Rose Samson sounds lovely to me. You don't often use the full name - only at the doctors/schol register etc and there's certainly no teasing potential, which is always something to be wary of.If you love the name, go with it!
We have a surname beginning with a vowel, so all girls names ending in a vowel sound a bit odd with it. We went for one ending in "e" anyway as we liked the name and it's never been a problem. DD is quite happy with the sound of her full name tbh, it's been much less of a big deal than we imagined.

youremindmeofthebabe · 06/04/2010 09:27

I love Rosanna. And Rosa.

5DollarShake · 06/04/2010 10:06

I don't think Rose runs into the surname badly at all.

I have heard far 'worse' examples of first and surnames running together on actual people with the names - the amount of times you say the two names together, it would be a shame to forego a name you love for that reason.

Rosalind is such a pretty name - shame your DH doesn't like it!

mathanxiety · 06/04/2010 21:43

Roisin?

wonka · 06/04/2010 21:59

Roisin means little rose

LadyOfTheFlowers · 07/04/2010 16:45

I am not overly keen on Rosalind. I don't like the Ros bit sounding like Roz. I prefer ones like Rosina where the first sound stays Rose iykwim?

I am very tempted to go with Rose.

Do you think I could get away with it? If you pronounce the words correctly it works, no?

You make the 'oze' sound and then the 'Si..' sound for the start of Simpson.

thirtysomething · 08/04/2010 19:17

Yes, it sounds good together. Go for it!

AmandaCooper · 10/04/2010 15:58

I honestly think Rose Simpson sounds fine, but thought I'd chip in to mention that at work I have to answer the phone with my full name, so I say mine all the time.
