i have a Sophia 2yrs i haven't meet any others

caen · 27/03/2010 11:07

Heard of a few and think it will become more popular. Love it.

Runoutofideas · 27/03/2010 11:22

Love the name - would have used it myself if my sister wasn't a Sophie! Not very common I don't think - I don't know of any apart from one I was at school with many moons ago.

telsa · 27/03/2010 11:27

I only know of one, and she is nearly 5.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 27/03/2010 20:37

Okay, this sounds promising and DH likes too.

Is Sophia Eloise 'too much'?

OP posts:
WeeShuggy · 27/03/2010 20:37

I know one who is 4.

Runoutofideas · 28/03/2010 09:48

Both really pretty names, but I don't think Sophia Eloise trips off the tongue very smoothly. Not sure if it matters as you won't say it that often, but maybe a name starting with a consonant sound would flow better?

5DollarShake · 28/03/2010 09:50

Definitely prefer it to Sophie, which is ubiquitous now.

As for Sophia Eloise - both names are very nice, but a bit of a mouthful to say together. Having said that, if you love them, use them. People really use both as the same time.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 28/03/2010 10:09

Do you think maybe Eloise also has too many syllables?

When it comes to shorter ones my brain gets stuck on Grace and Rose and thats all it can muster.

OP posts:
Runoutofideas · 28/03/2010 10:29

I think it's the initial sound rather than the amount of syllables. Although I'm not suggesting it as a name, Sophia Louise flows better than Sophia Eloise....

How about

Sophia Charlotte
Sophia Beatrice
Sophia Mary
Sophia Lucy

etc

midnightexpress · 28/03/2010 10:45

I know one, who is 2. I love the name, but agree that it doesn't sound great with Eloise (which is also a lovely name btw) - I think it's because of hte 'r' sound you have to make to join the two together, so it becomes like 'Sophiar Eloise'. As runoutofideas says, a name with a consonant at the start won't have the same effect, so Sophia Louise works better, IMO.

DrivenToDistraction · 28/03/2010 10:55

Here. It seems to be steadily working it's way up the charts...

Great name though.

Bucharest · 28/03/2010 12:01

It's lovely. Love Eloise as well.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 28/03/2010 14:35

Darn it! I do see what you are saying.

Love Eloise too though. Don't want to put another name in between Sophia and Eloise to be able to use it though so will have to come up with something else.

Answers on a postcard.....

Eloise Sophia flows nicely....

gillybeanie · 28/03/2010 19:07

Sophia Alice?

SqueezyB · 28/03/2010 20:27

It seems v popular round here (Herts), I have met several Sophias and Sophies all aged around 2.

Lovely name, though I prefer the Sofia spelling personally. Or how about Eloise as a first name? Lovely but nowhere near as popular.

Wanderingsheep · 28/03/2010 20:33

I love the name Sophia. It's my DD's middle name, don't know any others though!

Casmama · 28/03/2010 20:40

I think Runoutofideas has a good suggestion. Eloise is (I would imagine) far less commonly used than sophia. I don't know how popular Sophia is(I love it btw) but it sounds very similar to Sophie which every second baby girl seems to be called around here.
