I'd hope she can say her 'r's

PandaEis · 22/03/2010 16:30

its pretty i think like sleeping beauty she was briar rose when hiding with the 3 fairy women

MmeLindt · 22/03/2010 16:32

Sounds prickly.

Also reminds me of Friar Tuck.

Briana is nicer.

suiledonne · 22/03/2010 16:33

I wouldn't use it. Maybe it is an Irish thing or just my family but when someone is in bad form, a bit cross and grumpy we say 'she is like a briar' as in thorny and unapproachable.

Would always have negative connotations for me.

ChickensHaveSinisterMotives · 22/03/2010 16:35

I like it. Do not give Rose as a middle name, though, far too twee. Briar could be a kick ass lawyer, or a fluffy bunnikins. Versatile.

Greensleeves · 22/03/2010 16:36

Bryony is nicer IMO

sassysass · 22/03/2010 16:41

Also, how would you pn it?

She would get called Brian a lot by mistake.

sweetnitanitro · 22/03/2010 17:13

I like it, it's pretty without being twee and it suits any age. I agree that you shouldn't choose Rose as a mn, that would be too much.

post · 22/03/2010 17:16

pants on fire

Merrylegs · 22/03/2010 17:16

"Briar, Briar, pants on fire..."

I like it, actually. Groovy.

PuppyMonkey · 22/03/2010 17:17

at the r's pronunciation. I'm not keen tbh.

ProfYaffle · 22/03/2010 17:18

Spikey and unwelcome. "Priests in black gowns were walking their rounds and binding with briars my joys and desires" William Black, Songs of Experience.

ProfYaffle · 22/03/2010 17:19

Tsk. William Blake obviously, not Black.

Maggie00 · 22/03/2010 17:21

too....... spikey!

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 22/03/2010 17:58

I think it is twee actually, sorry.

blogpage · 22/03/2010 18:42

Too much like Brian. Prefer Bryony.

pixiestix · 22/03/2010 18:52

I like it, but the one Briar I know does get called Brian sometimes - and not even in jest, but by people who just don't listen

auberginesrus · 22/03/2010 19:12

I think its fab, and say pah to William Black Blake

A bit different but still a proper name/word iyswim

JaynieB · 22/03/2010 19:14

I think its great

MamaLazarou · 22/03/2010 19:23

Too similar to Brian.

DuelingFanjo · 22/03/2010 19:24
