I have seen it spelt Anika and it is quite well known in NZ, as there is a famous musician called Anika Moa. I actually prefer Anneke as it sounds a bit softer.

MissusRabbit · 22/03/2010 07:44

Dutch version is Anneka i think.

Lovely name but lots of different spellings (not sure if they are all 'correct' IYKWIM) but then friends and family will get used to wahtever version you choose.

5DollarShake · 22/03/2010 08:25

Beautiful name - I'm a Kiwi so agree, fairly well-known there, albeit spelt slightly differently.

belgo · 22/03/2010 08:29

It can be spelt Annika/Anika/Anneka - all acceptable spellings.

Rather boring name though, just another version of Ann.

cory · 22/03/2010 08:33

Annika is the Scandinavian spelling.

teafortwo · 22/03/2010 08:42

I know a really natural but charming girl called Anneka. I think it is an extremely nice name indeed!

The A and nn are soft and feminine while the k sounds strong and earthy but overall the name has this beautifully whimsical and slightly dreamy feel to it...

I think it would be a wonderful start in life to be given a name as beautiful as Anneka/Anika/Annika - however you wish to spell it - it really is completely 100%lovely!!!

blogpage · 22/03/2010 08:51

I like it.

diddl · 22/03/2010 09:00

Lovely.

GoldenSnitch · 22/03/2010 09:04

I know a 2 year old Annika. She's lovely

Pasiphae · 22/03/2010 11:52

Lovely! I think of Pippi's neigbours.

haggisaggis · 22/03/2010 11:55

My dd is Anneke - so of course I love it! (she was Ulrike for a week but we decided we didn't like it)

ellesabe · 22/03/2010 17:43

Rice

brennannbooth · 22/03/2010 17:45

Lovely name, if it is spelt Annika I think of German connections

Rejessta · 22/03/2010 18:01

I'm afraid I'd abbreviate or use the diminutive - Ann or Anny. I suspect a lot of people would. It also reminds me of Anakin Skywalker - I can't get Star Wars music out of my head.

Sorry, not a fan, which is odd because I quite like Anka.

umf · 22/03/2010 19:22

Love it, would use it if it went with our surname.

wb · 22/03/2010 19:31

I like it (and I say that about v. few girls' names).

ChynaDoll2006 · 22/03/2010 21:32

Prefer Annik. (ah-neek)

waltonsmountain · 22/03/2010 23:24

Its a beautiful name.
We are expecting and it is on our list too but the Anneka Rice factor has made us think twice... I'm hoping I can pursuade DH to reconsider.
Good luck with it though, it is so pretty and unusual.

Or Anouk? Hmm - for me the 'k' sound near the end is quite harsh. Like Ulrika, ka, ka.

MissusRabbit · 23/03/2010 11:03

waltons Anneka Rice was born 'Anne' (according to wikipedia) and changed her name so perhaps you can still use it

ShadeofViolet · 23/03/2010 11:06

I like it, I knew an Anneka at school and she was very clever - top set material.
