40+1 & need help! Boys name dilema cont.

So, my our first choice of Jesse is looking unlikely since DH has had major wobble, so I need a plan B. I really don't want to be pressured into choosing a different name quickly after the birth if the baby is a boy and I am 40+1 today. DH is Mr Contrary, so it is possible Jesse may stick once we meet the baby (and he also asked "when do you not get your own way..." ) but I don't want to give the baby a name if DH isn't keen; so many boys names are ok/ fine, but I want us to choose a name we LOVE.

Dh (Thomas) now likes Rudy (previously said no) I am leaning towards Thomas Rudy Asher and using Rudy as everyday name, as I think it sounds better than Rudy Thomas Asher, plus aware Rudy maybe a bit 'nick-namey' and I'm not keen on Rudolph or Reuben as formal versions. It isn't essential we use Thomas at all, just thought it may be nice...

So my questions are:

  1. Is it a stupid idea going to be trouble using middle name as everyday name?
  2. Initials will spell out T.R.Asher, is this a no no?
  3. Would Rudy get teased more than Jesse? (my old dad is going to have another funny turn isn't he...) FeedTheBeast

Lovely names - though T R Asher might be a deal breaker. Jesse is on our list - love it. Rudy is a bit rad I think. What about Tobias (Toby)

FeedTheBeast · 21/03/2010 20:22

hmm not thought of Tobias, would have to check out his ears first (toby jug)... will have a think about that one, could be a winner...

Jesse is so perfect, think i may have to pull rank after giving birth LOL!

It is gorgeous - though more common in America than UK - use it!

Good luck with the birth btw - two puffs of g&a and there he is I hope!

FeedTheBeast · 21/03/2010 20:38

yep correct pronunciation, and Asher is surname so not an option for 1st name!
