I have posted before but the shortlist is now a bit shorter, would appreciate thoughts and kind opinions!

If it's a girl....

Violet (i love but DH isnt budging and not high on his list)
Matilda
Freya
Felicity
Sophie
Claudia ( recent addition to the list....I'm undecided)
Imogen (DHs fave but DD1 has an I initial first name which is a similar length and birthdays are likely to be days apart so maybe not.)

Middle names - any from the above plus Kate, Elizabeth/Eliza, Rose

Claudia is my favourite by a mile

I like Mathilda and Violet too
Sophie is OK

Sorry, don't really like the others

HelenDoula · 16/03/2010 17:55

Matilda Rose (my best friends DD)
Matilda Kate
Matilda Elizabeth

SmileysPeepul · 16/03/2010 17:56

Only Claudia, but also LOVE Kate and Elizabeth. Use these as first instead of middle names.

Hulababy · 16/03/2010 18:04

Violet - I don't like this

Matilda - my favourite; beautiful name

Freya - nice

Felicity - don't like

Sophie - pretty name, like this

Claudia - I don't like particularly

Imogen - not keen; harsh sound to it

Tobermory · 16/03/2010 19:40

Kate/Elizabeth not useable as first name for various reasons.

Claudia's the only one I really like.

MinnieMalone · 16/03/2010 19:42

Imogen and Felicity are my favourites.

They're all very pretty, but I think Freya nd Violet are very faddy and Sophie is a bit 'meh'.

MegSophandEmma · 16/03/2010 19:43

Sophie and Claudia - Lovely

allyfe · 16/03/2010 19:46

My gran was called violet and HATED it. She was Vi as an adult. I'd say nice for a little girl, but not so good for an adult.

Matilda I'd say the same thing. Very pretty for a little girl, but not so good for an adult. I do like Tilda though.

Freya I love, it is my dd's name. But I was concerned about popularity - but my love of the name won out.

Felicity - not keen (know an dreadful one so probably biased)

Sophie - think it it is very pretty, but it is very popular and I don't like Soph much which is what the Sophie's I know get called.

Claudia - Not so sure

Imogen - I do really like this name!

I also rather like Kate as a first name. I know it is simple, but I love it as a name. I also rather like Eliza - also as a first name!!

Tobermory · 16/03/2010 19:54

Allyfe, does you daughter have a nickname or is she always Freya?

OP posts:
allyfe · 16/03/2010 20:01

Tobermory - she is mainly Freya, although my husband calls her Freyapants - I'm really not at all sure where that came from, and occasionally he shortens it to pants!?! But I'm hoping that this is a nickname that doesn't get used out of the house for obvious reasons. I'm not sure she'd want it to follow her to school!!!

Tobermory · 16/03/2010 20:07

Freyapants... Not my first thought for a shortening!!

loobylu3 · 16/03/2010 20:17

I like:

Matilda
Violet
Claudia

cyteen · 16/03/2010 20:21

Violet or Claudia would be my choices. Sophie is nice but Sophia has more going for it.

Matilda is very, very overdone - I'm tired of hearing it tbh (sorry). Felicity and Imogen are meh. Freya is sweet but has become quite commonplace.

telsa · 16/03/2010 21:08

I love Violet. I like Claudia - but only said Cloud-ia - not Claw-dia, which I think is very snobby-sounding!

Violet Eliza - nice and Victorian!
Claudia Rose - pretty

notsoteenagemum · 16/03/2010 21:37

Violet, I love this and nn's Vi and Letty but it seems to be growing in popularity.
Matilda, not keen but do like Tilly/Tilda nn's.
Freya, I love this name and used to look after a lovely one with nn Ya-ya. It is very popular though.
Felicity, not too keen.
Sophie, I've always loved Sophie as my first doll was called this.
Claudia, don't like at all.
Imogen, lovely, pretty name that suits all ages.

Middle names
Kate, great name
Elizabeth, nice but not as a middle name for Violet or she'll scream and scream until she's sick!
Eliza, not keen on this I think ts harsh.
Rose, lovely but very popular as a middle name what about as a first name?

Tillyscoutsmum · 16/03/2010 21:39

I love Matilda (obviously) and Claudia. Freya is pretty too

Tobermory · 16/03/2010 21:39

What's the definition of 'meh' exactly?!

OP posts:
cyteen · 16/03/2010 21:55

meh = alright, so-so

Tobermory · 16/03/2010 22:04

Hmmm now that's what I'm having probs with.

Had my DD1 name as a favourite long before she was born and l love it despit it's popularity. Trying to find a name I love just as much is proving tricky. Added to this is my inbuilt indecision ...I get to the point where I don't know what I think is 'meh' and what isn't!
