How do you feel about Saul or Seth? I also like Caleb but DH not keen.

I like both. Strong, cool names. Saul slightly more unusual, perhaps, but the world isn't exactly overrun with Seths either.

tummytickler · 12/03/2010 21:49

Saul

BadGardener · 12/03/2010 21:50

Seth, purely because of Cold Comfort Farm.
"'Seth my son, do you want to break my heart?'
'Yes', said Seth, with elemental simplicity.'"

Shaz10 · 12/03/2010 21:52

Wasn't Saul the cult leader on Home and Away? Possibly showing my age here...

Shaz10 · 12/03/2010 21:55

Even when I had a GA operation they just taped the rings.

Shaz10 · 12/03/2010 21:56

Whoops wrong thread! Stupid back button.

QueenBoo · 12/03/2010 22:08

I love Seth to me it is a very wholesome name.

Saul however makes me think of someone dodgy maybe Shaz10 is right

Saul is fantastic. DH wouldn't allow. Strong, religious, cool name.

Seth makes me think of a fifty something man with his beer belly hanging out and fly undone......although I quite like it!

Good luck in your choice.

BravoJuliet · 12/03/2010 23:16

I love Saul. Very underused. Seth is ok, but not as classic. like Arthur or Noah. Bit try hard. JMO

MarionCole · 12/03/2010 23:32

I have a Seth and Saul would be very high up my list for a second. Both very fine names. My only concern about Saul is that people might mishear it and assume it is Sol. I can hear it now - "no, like Paul but with S". We have enough problem with people not knowing how to spell Seth

LittlePushka · 12/03/2010 23:33

Oh I love both - Saul was on our list for ages. I have not come across either in DC circles. Great choices!

ChynaDoll2006 · 14/03/2010 17:49

Saul

ellesabe · 14/03/2010 18:00

Definately Seth - the biblical Saul wasn't a nice character!

AshleyFanjo · 14/03/2010 20:44

I used to know Saul Seth!

I like both names but I prefer Saul as where I am from the term "Seth Breath" refers to bad breath.

AllieW · 25/03/2010 21:34

I love them both!

Snowtiger · 25/03/2010 21:39

Love them both - particularly Seth for the Cold Comfort Farm connection, good call BadGardener! (And I'm a big Seth Lakeman fan which is one of the reasons DH vetoed the name for us, he thinks it's just because I 'fancy a pop star'. He's not a pop star, he's a folk musician....)

Both names were on my shortlist for DS2 but DH isn't keen on biblical names. Instead I got my third choice names for both DSs which everyone here will call (have already called) too 'try hard' but I don't care.

Both names sound strong, dark, hardy and manly. Grr. Fabulous!

theagedparent · 25/03/2010 21:42

Seth

DramaInPyjamas · 25/03/2010 21:42

Saul - love it. Would have been on my lists, but it doesn't go with our surname.

I like Seth as well, but it does bring to mind images of the old guy with the big 'tache that was in Emmerdale.

avaj · 25/03/2010 21:57

I like Saul, it's a good strong name.
Seth is ok, but I feel as if I'm lisping when I say it.

PoppyC · 25/03/2010 21:58

Saul is fabulous, Seth is nice too, but a bit more rogue-ish and American- kind of Seth Green-ish. I can imagine Saul growing up to be serious and very handsome. He'd have a great namesake in Saul Bellow.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 25/03/2010 22:09

I like both, but Saul just has the edge

scottishmummy · 25/03/2010 22:16

saul is very nice
seth is very emmerdale

dizzydixies · 25/03/2010 23:00

Saul is lovely and has a great meaning too
