I always have liked being unique, and hate the idea of following everyone else. I really wanted to find a pretty but unusual name for my little girl on the way. I hate the un-original route...

Problem is this is the list I have come up with:

Isabelle
Ava
Isla
Georgia
Liliana
Sophia

I like these names, but hate that they are so popular!
Would you avoid a name based on its popularity?
Why is the name such a dilemma for me?
Anyone else out there with this problem?

Ulitmately if you love a name then you should go with it. You can never second guess what will be popular. My dd1 has a name in the top ten and she is the only one in her entire school!

Anyhow, how about the following alternatives?

Isabelle - Isadora
Ava - Ada
Isla - Iris, Isis
Georgia - Georgiana (pronounced George-jane-a)
Liliana - Lilias, Lilith (altho Liliana is quite unusual anyway)
Sophia - Sylvie, Sylvia

My Jessica is the only one in her school!!

Its strange, I can't believe a few of you think Isabelle is 'trendy'... I think both isabelle and sophia and timeless and classic despite being incredibly popular at the moment.

still hate the idea that there are tons of them around...
this name debate is going to drive me crazy,

not sure I will ever find the right one, or the right one that my other half loves as well!

our Isabella is named after my beloved great auntwho would have been in her 90s - hardly popular dueto being 'trendy'

you'll be thinking if names like Lola etc on the trendy front surely

Isabelle isn't a great spelling, imo Isobel or Isbeblla, but not Isabelle. It is frilly and made up, imo.

Variations of this name have to be the most popular of the last few years, surely? It's easily overtaken Ella, Grace, Evie etc.

I'm not being judgy, btw. My child has a popular name.

I too find the French sp Isabelle a bit frilly, dunno why. I know an Isabel as well as an Isobel, if that hasn't been considered?
