Noah or Henry?

I'm only 14 weeks but still fixated on baby names! Think DH and I have our girl's choice sorted but if it's a boy we are really torn between Noah and Henry. Any thoughts?

I see Noah as more trendy and Henry as more classic, but a more 'of the moment' name isn't necessarily a bad thing in my book.

The middle name for a boy is likely to be -deep breath- Keith. After FIL. Horrible name but a lovely man and it would mean a lot to both DH and FIL. I wonder if Henry Keith sounds too much like and old man and Noah Keith might be a more modern balance?

All views welcome!

ooh, I'm a big fan of Noah personally. And I agree, Henry Keith does sound a bit old man-ish!

bogie · 18/02/2010 12:25

I know alot of Noahs and not so many Henrys so I think I would go with Henry for that reason...... But with Keith I think Noah sounds better.

Not much help am I

PrettyCandles · 18/02/2010 12:27

Both Henry and Noah nice names, but Henry Keith just too dated and boring somehow. I agree re your opinion of the name Keith, my FIL too. MIL had hoped we would use it, but I don't like my FIL enough to make such a sacrifice. Fortunately I won't name a child aftger a living relative, so we were still able to please her by using her dad's name.

Noah Keith a lovely, modern name, with classic tones.

traceybath · 18/02/2010 12:31

Does FIL have a middle name perhaps? Not sure I'd make a child have the name Keith to be honest.

However I like Noah but love Henry.

ilovesprouts · 18/02/2010 12:35

love noah as its on my dds list !! shes due april!!

twolittlemonkeys · 18/02/2010 12:38

I prefer Noah personally. Trendy but not out there.

birdofthenorth · 18/02/2010 12:40

Sadly FIL has no middle name, he is just Keith!

I was really opposed to using it at first (it just doesn't sound right for this generation, and reminds me of Keith Chegwin!!) but I've come to terms with it now (and hope DS would too!).

FIL's a very good man, a nice example to look up to in terms of being hardworking and hugely supportive of his wife, kids and grandkids, and he's been a great help to us in a number of ways -plus my own dad and both grandads have already been honoured by other family members.

I am erring towards Noah Keith because I agree Henry Keith sounds dated and dull... thanks for your help!

I love the name Henry (having one myself) but I think with Keith I would go with Noah, although tbh how often do middle names get used alongside first names??

MrsJohnDeere · 18/02/2010 12:45

Henry. Lovely name.

Noah is a bit 'trying hard to be trendy' for my taste.

Nothing wrong with using all three! Henry Noah Keith sounds pretty good...

SparklyJules · 18/02/2010 12:56

I like Noah, but be wary when he's a toddler of constantly shouting "No, Noah, No!"

birdofthenorth · 18/02/2010 12:58

My DH objects to three names unfortunately! I would like to go down this route whether boy or girl (to honour both mums if a girl) but DH thinks more than one middle name is pretentious, alas.

at 'No, Noah, no'! I will have to try 'Don't Noah!' or 'Noah, stop' I think!!

Love Henry. Would use it for any (hypothetical) future ds, but I have a Harriet which I think is a feminine equivalent?
Noah is ok, but I know four I think which would put me off.
Go for it with Keith, I think it's quirky

Rhuidean · 18/02/2010 14:26

Does FIL have a middle name you could use?

Henry Keith sounds fine.

mathanxiety · 18/02/2010 20:52

Henry.

mummyjackson · 18/02/2010 22:50

I've gone off Noah in the last few weeks - it's everywhere right now. So I vote for Henry.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 18/02/2010 22:54

I've got a Noah so I vote for that. He is 3.

Cadelaide · 18/02/2010 22:54

henry definitely.

Can't stand Noah.

Skegness · 18/02/2010 22:56

Henry

vess · 19/02/2010 05:02

Henry.
I actually like Keith.

skidoodle · 19/02/2010 07:34

Lovely to name your son after his grandfather. Keith is an ugly name, but the child won't be called Keith, so it doesn't matter.

I like both Noah and Henry. Probably prefer Noah.

seeker · 19/02/2010 07:49

Could you put in an extra name? Henry Something Keith? Noah Something Keith? We did that when we wanted to honour dp's grandmother in dd's name. At the time a fabulous, fiesty wonderful example of a 99 year old - but unfortunatly names Irene!

StrictlyKatty · 21/02/2010 09:18

Henry Keith sounds horrible! Noah Keith is much better.
