Does name go with surname?

Hi,

Our DS2 is due in June and my husband and I really like Sebastian but don't know if it goes with our surname Bonn because of the B's. I am guessing he will be nn Seb. Sebastian Bonn seems to sound fine but is Seb Bonn too much of a mouthful?

Thanks!

would you consider popping a middle name in there to break it up a little?

I personally wouldn't choose Seb if my surname was Bonn....Seb Bonn sounds like seven pronounced incorrectly. I would steer clear of Sebastian (or any other name with a similar ending) with Bonn as the surname for fear of Sebastian Bonn becoming very 'on' sounding e.g. SebastiON Bonn (sounds a bit like bon-bon). Sorry!

Doesn't sound too good. You need to avoid Bs and Ns.

Thanks, thought it wasn't so good together but sometimes when you are thinking about names a lot you can't see the wood for the trees and what goes!

I think Sebastian Bonn is great.

Nn Seb fine.

How many times will he really be called Seb Bonn?

Go for it!

em,,, Seb Bonn sounds confusing, it's really hard to be certain about where the first name ends and the sur name begins. I agree with Math, try and find a name without Bs and Ns.

Seb Bonn sounds like soap. (a bit. sabon).

My son was nearly Gus Garcia and I really loved the name Gus/Fergus I was convinced it could work. But I'm glad I was talked ouf that one. I now realise that it sounds like a pensioner with loose teeth choking on a fish bone. So glad I went back to the drawing board.

To me it sounds slightly like 'C'est bon!' Really though, how often is someone going to call him by his full name? I think if you love the name you should definitely go with it.

no...sorry I would stay clear. Sebastian was on our SL too - we also liked Alistair.

LynetteScavo · 17/02/2010 19:06

C'est bon!

shoobidoo · 17/02/2010 19:53

No, definately not Seb Bonn! It really doesn't sound great together.

StrictlyKatty · 17/02/2010 20:02

Doesn't sound quite right to me.
